VC's deal is up July 1st.
Raptors will sign him.

My only question is that it will harm the development of DeRozan and Ross even further....

Wince "half a season" Carter already had his chance in Toronto and failed to deliver

Wince "half a season" Carter already had his chance in Toronto and failed to deliverHe's played 73 games or more since 2003. In fact, the '02 and '03 campaigns were the only seasons of his career he played in less than 73 contests.

My only question is that it will harm the development of DeRozan and Ross even further....It sounds like he's happy in Dallas, but if Carter did sign with Toronto, I don't think it'd be an issue regarding DeRozan and Ross' development. Carter was good for just a touch over 20 minutes off the bench this year and I do not see him demanding a bigger role than that from here on out. I think he'd do what he could to fit in.

If he is okay playing off the bench ala John Salmons under a right price, sure why not.

I don't think they would be expecting him to carry the team :hammerhead:

They need a SF anyways. The biggest reason they lost to Brooklyn was because they couldn't guard Joe Johnson. Ross and Derozen don't have then strength or build to guard guys like that.

Sports Illustrated (via ESPN) reports the Raptors may be interested in such an acquisition but again, they state Vince seems to really like Dallas.

Word is that the Raptors have been kicking around the idea of making a free-agent play this summer to try to bring Vince Carter “home” by trying to sign the former face of the franchise away from the Mavericks.

Be advised that Carter has been very happy in Dallas these past three seasons. Very happy. He’s emerged as the emotional leader of Dirk Nowitzki’s team at this late stage of his career and, by all accounts, wants to re-sign with Dallas.

I admit, there's a part of me that'd like to see him back in Toronto just so he could get one last in-game windmill or 360 in a Raptors uniform. Actually, it'd be cool to see either of those dunks in any uniform, but particularly back in Toronto.

This they could use him.

Amir Johnson's contract is up as well. Amir wore #15 Thus giving Carter's his #15 back. Its a deal made in heaven

:biggums: VC can be a veteran mentor and help them develop into better players. Why do you think Detroit signed Chauncey? :biggums:

Honestly they dont need him.
He would only mess things up.

They have some good things coming up, if they can keep Johnson and Lowry.

About as likely as Len Bias suiting up and playing for the Celtics.

How exactly would he hurt their development ? He's not asked to come in start or even take a lot of minutes away. I don't think he will be a locker room problem either. He would be a big upgrade, even in his advanced age, over the current back up wings we have.

:biggums: VC can be a veteran mentor and help them develop into better players. Why do you think Detroit signed Chauncey? :biggums:

I don't think Vince as a mentor would matter much to them, especially to a guy like DeMar. DeMar has always had a fantastic work ethic and he continues to improve his weakness. If he does pick up anything from Vince, it would be how to pick his spots in ISO or 3 point shooting, but I don't see DeMar changing much of his habits.

Would Toronto fans even want him back?

Believe me, there's quiet an amount of fans who want him back, but...

He is staying with Dallas

This seems the most likely. Vince has said he wants to return to Dallas.

Gonna go to the raptors and improve the 3 point fg%. Lowry chucks most of the time.
