Duncan, Kobe, KG... Pretty much any first ballot HOFer in the last 1 or 2 years of his career.
Nothing to prove to the fans, I presume.

Depends on where you are ranking guys...
Like Lebron really doesn't have anything left to prove...he could retire tomorrow and be considered one of the best ever, but if he wants to catch some of the top 5 or so guys all time...he's got stuff left to prove....
So I wouldn't include Lebron or Wade on my list;
Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, and KG would be the former superstars in the league that have nothing left to prove.
And then guys like Parker, Manu, Ray Allen, Pierce...they don't have anything left to prove either.

Duncan is the consensus GOAT PF. What more does he have to prove for it to be questionable? If anything, dude trying to one up Jordan still has stuff to prove. :coleman:

i admire duncan, he actually makes my list, but you give a decent core of players so many years together under the same good system and they're gonna have success regardless more often than not, not saying duncan wouldn't been great otherwise but would have liked seen him elsewhere or w diff personel

Well, yea, just like having Phil Jackson and Shaq is damn near perfect.
Would have loved to see Kobe play with normal help...
Kobe, Dirk, Duncan, and KG have nothing left to prove...they all have their legacies set and they seem to be properly placed all time by most knowledgeable fans

the 2nd kobe chip run was with many new guys and his help was average for a championship team

I wouldn't say average. He had arguably the best help in the league...and had Phil Jackson as well. And the competition in 09 and 10....outside of the 10 Celtics...was actually pretty weak. Not current East level weak or something, but certainly the West is considerably better now than it was.
That isn't "normal" help like I said....
I don't see how one could say they need to see more out of Duncan in a different scenario and then turn around and not mention Kobe. Kobe played with more help than Duncan in his title years overall...and Duncan never had the luxury of being the clear cut 2nd best player like Kobe did in the Shaq years....especially in 00.

James really doesn't have anything left to prove in terms of accomplishments. Anything more is just adding to a great legacy.
If were going to include that statement, we might as well use the "I've got a goal and that's a huge goal, and it's to bring a championship to Cleveland" quote.

Lolol @ considering Pau who never won a playoff game in his life, let alone a series, before he came to LA, and Odom as "best help in the league".

None. I'm sure they all feel like they still have something to prove otherwise they wouldn't be competitors at the highest level of professional sports.

Umm, you don't think that has anything to do with Duncan?

Good point. I'd probably say the 09 Nuggets or 10 Suns would only be the 5th-7th best team in the West today.

The Spurs trio
Dwade
Dirk
Kobe
Garnett, Pierce
Come to think of it, pretty much every star's that's won a championship, Lebron has nothing to "prove" either per se, he's just piling up achievements and trying to move up that ladder.
On a semi-related note, I can't remember the last time two superstars faced off in a series and both had so much to prove like CP3 and Durant do. Neither have won championships like Lebron or Duncan. Neither are still looked at as an up and coming star like Wall or Lillard. Neither are on undermanned teams like Melo or Love. Neither are relatively lesser stars like Noah or Jefferson.
These two are basically at their prime/peak of their careers, they've had many playoff appearances that were cut short and haven't won a championship, they're two of the biggest names in the league, and they both have great teams. Usually there's a good excuse i.e. CP3 didn't have a good enough team or Durant is still young. Not this year. Whoever loses this series is going to get killed by the media/fans.

Kobe. Already the GOAT, all he's doing is furthering the gap between 2nd place now.

I think Kobe has a lot to prove actually after his extension. Prove he isn't washed up, prove that he can change his game and be successful after the injuries, prove that he is worth the money, etc.
The only people with nothing left to prove are the players who aren't stars anymore (Pierce, Garnett, Allen, etc).

if lebore lames doesnt join the dunk contest next year he will forever be known as a coward
dirk, kg, duncan, the old farts who had already won. they can average like 10ppg in their last years, and people would still be cool and forget about it like hakeem's last year when he produced like roy hibbert. :lol
i think kobe still wants to prove something. if he ever averages like 15ppg as a 39 year old or whatever, that would be a noticeable blemish. his standards are a little different and he has to remain relevant until the day he retires cuz some bald guy was still freaking it as a 40 year old some decade ago.

everyone on this list is around 30+ years olds
nothing to prove
duncan - goat pf with 4 rings.
parker - 3 rings and still playing like he's 25.
kg & pierce - celtic legends pretty much can't prove anything if they even wanted to cause of age.
allen - saved lebron's legacy with arguably the clutchest shot in finals history.
dirk - won the finals with role players and beat 3 superstars in the process.
something to prove -
kobe - still the highest paid player in the league won 3 championships with shaq and choked in game 7 in 2010.
lebron - still needs to get 6+ rings if he wants to be consider the goat.
wade - teamed up with 2 superstars and hasn't won anything but a scoring title since 2009.
melo - bounced out first round of the playoffs 9 times.
