As you can see, literally the only thing he stepped up his level in was free throw shooting and steals. The former of which padded his scoring a tiny bit, and the latter of which was utterly meaningless considering his defense was blatantly just as bad if not worse than the pitiful defense we saw from him in the regular season. The arrogant little shit even had the audacity to order people around on defense in the most important play of the whole series....and we all know how that ended up :oldlol:

We could attribute this to small sample size, but that’s a bit unfair for statistical analysis with Harden, considering that small sample sizes are all we’ll ever get with him in the playoffs. His days of 15-20 game playoff runs ended when he lost 2 superstars to hide behind - sorry Dwight, you’re great and were a beast in the playoffs, but offensively you’re no Durant or Westbrook. Gone are the days when he can enter games with close to zero pressure, and hide behind two offensive juggernauts whenever the lights shine their brightest and the intensity cranks up. He’s got nowhere to hide. That is, of course, unless someone like Durant or some other top 5 player comes over to Houston to let Harden comfortably be the role player he truly is.


Now for some fun facts. In the Rockets’ 2014 first round demolition, Harden posted:

- the 2nd worst eFG% of his team…yes, worse than Jeremy Lin, Terrence Jones, Patrick Beverley…all of them except Francisco ****ing Garcia :oldlol:
- the 3rd worst offensive rating, only marginally better than Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin
- tied for the 5th worst defensive rating
- worse WS/48 than Terrence Jones, and through the first 5 games of the series, his WS/48 was HALF of Dwight’s.
- when Harden was on the court, the Blazers scored 3.5 ppg more, and on nearly 5% eFG better shooting

This is another huge point. Portland has one of the worst PnR defenses in the league, they should've just abused that from the start. Even otherwise he should've torched them, Portland's never been an elite defensive team..
