If it tries to stick with Asian jokes it's gonna fail like Margaret Chos sitcom did.

If Mr. Chow isn't in this show, it doesn't have a chance.

America is not ready for this. It'll only be about black and white people for the next 10~ years at the least....maybe hispanics will break in to the mainstream.
But asians have a long while before they can carry mainstream programming imo.

I got some chuckles from the trailer. It doesn't draw me in enough to want to watch it.

Asians, huh? What will they think of next!
Speaking of references, I'll watch The Goldbergs just to see how many Jewish references there are. How many in all the episodes I've watched? Basically, zero. None. You wouldn't know they are jewish except for an occasional yiddish word (like tuchas, which means tushee). Other than that, zero. Gotta be mainstream I guess....although they do ACT jewish...but no actual jewish references.
I expect this sitcom to be the most vanilla sitcom you'll find, except they just HAPPEN to be Asian....

I don't know shit about acting but the woman seems like a pretty bad actor.

So it's racist for a white guy to do an accent like that, but the Asian dad played Chung in VEEP and didn't sound like that at all. So, not racist?
Really? That's like saying Shaggy the music artist is racist because he sings reggae but sounds nothing like how he sings when he talks. Or Christian Bale speaking American English is obviously taking a shot at us Americans. I never heard of the guy so it sounded authentic to me. Seriously, in some parts of the trailer, he sounds very American. Or asian-american at the least.
If he was an asian guy doing some charlie chan shit, like with the big buck teeth and over-size glasses and stereotypical speech, then yes that would be racist. But if hes playing an immigrant in America, hes going to have a slight accent. To me, the show looks like a typical sitcom but with Asians lol
