He will never have Pippen's playmaking, ever. He's a better rebounder than Scottie too. Might be as efficient from the field though.

Do it all player with skill ala Shawn Marion. All-NBA defense. Tayshaun Prince-level defensive impact for a contender but more of an offensive contributor. Possibly the best rebounding SF in the league that isn't a SF/PF tweener? With enough minutes could be top-3 in steals ala Marion, Thaddeus, Iguodala, etc. Didn't predict him to be a future All-Star a year or two ago, but at the time I forgot how easy it is to make the AS game (cough Roy Hibbert) and Kawhi continues to improve. Much untapped potential. He's got solid moves both off the ball and to get himself open.

Statistically, I think he'll be a 18-20 PPG player, with 8 or 9 rebounds and 2 or 3 assists.
He'll be like Timmy: stats can't really capture the impact.

I'm talking about as a fan. How it must feel to sit through the Playoffs every year without doing anything. You'll never know the feeling of winning a ring -- or, perhaps, even making the Playoffs.

Sdac, why did Pop lower his minutes from last years playoffs? Why is he so concerned with his minutes? Is Kawhi like Gin and tires?

Great team player. very physically gifted great athlete has mass potential enough to be a top 5 player but lacks killer instinct. (hes probably the most laid back guy in the league) and isnt selfish enough. just a good team player

its a question that baffles all spurs fans. we dont understand why kawhi isnt playing 30-40 mins a night. the point differential when he is on the floor is staggering. he is still young. hes got the juice to play major minutes. his minutes are gradually increasing as the playoffs roll on so iam just trusting pop because he seems to know what he is doing.

I think Pop has kept Kawhi's minutes low for of a number of reasons. 1) they're really deep, Green and Belinelli slide to SF at times 2) fear of injuries, even for Kawhi (broken finger recently) 3) maintain pecking order (Duncan-Parker-Ginobili centric offense) 4) bringing Kawhi on slowly for his sake and the Spurs sake 5) keeping his price tag low
It reminds me of the way SA handled Splitter the last few years and eventually it paid off for him. Tiago initially had complained (internally) that he wasn't getting enough minutes, he was a professional from overseas yadda yadda. But he just didn't realize it's a process, learning the Spurs' system. It's been a long process for Tiago. In saying that, hopefully Spurs can retain Kawhi. Would be bittersweet if he was traded in a good deal. Def become a fan favorite.

I felt the same way about George Hill. easily a fan favorite. he also lives a few houses down from my parents. sucked to see him traded but Kawhi has paid off greatly. cant expect lightening to strike twice but it happens in SA (ie. david and tim)

Definitely like Hill, he was awesome, however flawed. He always gave it his all and had a big series against Dallas I remember. Spurs kinda plucked him out of nowhere... well a small college at least.
With Kawhi it was less luck in the lottery and more great drafting, trading, and team management by the Spurs. Turned a 26th overall draft pick (Hill) into Kawhi who was on a number of teams radars and a near lottery pick. Spurs have made due with very many late 1st round picks and 2 round picks in the last decade (comes with winning though), so essentially trading up in the draft was awesome and has paid dividends.
but yea mock drafts had Kawhi going fairly high a few years go
#9 to the Bobcats

#6 to the Wizards
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/736350-2011-nba-mock-draft-projecting-all-30-first-round-picks/page/7
In a compilation of 19 mock drafts (including ISH) Kawhi's total ranking was 7th , behind only Irving, D. Williams, Kanter, Knight, Valanciunas, and Vesely

Kawhi has a higher ceiling than Parker.
Spurs looked finished three years ago ... Kawhi joined the team, and now the Spurs reached the WCF for a franchise-record third straight time.
Kawhi gives the Spurs a small chance of beating OKC.
Playoffs - Kawhi
2013 - MP 36.9 -> 13.5 PTS / 9.0 TRB / 1.0 AST / 1.8 STL / 0.5 BLK / TS% 61.1
2014 - MP 31.8 -> 14.0 PTS / 7.5 TRB / 1.1 AST / 1.8 STL / 0.4 BLK / TS% 60.6
