What do they have to be insecure about? That a few people might argue for Kareem or Wilt instead? Or trot out Russell's 11 rings?

It's really not even about Jordan's 6, even though he has them tho, it's about the way he accomplished it each finals more of a masterpiece than the first.
Jordan = Davinci, Remebrant and Basquiat all rolled up into a basketball player
Lebron would be his ball boy if they faced off in their primes

Lebron and Durant and cp3... and whatever, all great players but when you see them flopping around, prancing around like a fairy
Kobe, Jordan, Barkley, Duncan, etc etc never flopped
what ever happened to having some prime and playing some d instead of falling down every time someone touches you?

This.
- Perfect career (never lost when he was favored or had HCA).
- Cinematically heroic (stayed with his small market team and found a way to beat the villains - aka the Pistons - and become the best).
- Never had a "moral loss" in this prime. Had plenty of moral victories when he was too young or too old.
- Finals moments that transcended the sport. Not just legendary basketball moments, but legendary sports moments.
Lebron fails in all of these categories (except perhaps some morals victories with the Cavs in the playoffs).

Well that's what happens when you're atop the THRONE. You defend from all comers.
And no one defended the throne like Jordan. 3 straight chips, on absolutely EPIC team dragging Finals performances.
Retires for 2x seasons, the best the Bulls muster is a 2nd round knock out.
The GOAT comes back, elevates the Bulls well past .500 status. Pippen was begging him to come back. MJ stumbles that playoffs, re-motivates.
Leads the Bulls to seasons of 72 wins, 69 wins, and with his supplemental help gone for half a season leads the Bulls to 62 wins, a 35 year old MVP. Oh, and a 2nd three peat.
6x rings, 6x Finals MVPs, 5x MVPs (should've been like 7 or 8)
Obviously Jordan's success would bother people who are bitter deliberately obtuse haters who don't want to acknowledge his clear superiority over the all-time field.

They had a 56 win pace without Pippen--a significant decline from 69 wins the previous season and 72 wins the year before. In other words, the 98' Bulls without Pippen were basically the 94' Bulls: a top, contending team but not dominant.
Lebron fails in all of these categories (except perhaps some morals victories with the Cavs in the playoffs).

MJ was 35, Pippen in '94 was at the APEX of his career. Significant difference in youthful ability, skill, and more importantly will power contributing to wins.
In '98 Rodman missed games. MJ's most consistent players were Jason Caffey, and Kukoc before Pippen retired. No All Stars like BJ, and Horace Grant.
Bulls wouldn't have even gone 7 games v.s. the Knicks in 1994 if not for rookie Toni Kukoc.
While Pippen selfishly pouted on the bench because he was asked to play decoy, to a superior half court scorer.
Without Pippen, Bulls don't struggle like that with MJ on the court. As I said, Pippen is an all-time sidekick, supplimental player.

I was confusing Rodman's health with 1997.
MJ was 35 in 1998 though, Pip was at his absolute peak in 1994. MJ didn't have 2x other all stars on his team in 1998. I'm sure if he did the '98 Bulls would get past the 2nd round.
The Bulls wouldn't have been going to rookies either for the Final Shot, and if they did ... I don't picture MJ pulling himself from the game. He'd create for someone else willingly. Just as he did for Kerr in 1997.

Everyone knows overall Jordan is the GOAT, but it's kinda annoying how his fans make him seem untouchable in every facet of the game.
He was elite in a lot of facets of the game.
It's not inconceivable to claim Jordan was the best or close to the best at just about everything at his position.
Elite midrange game, elite man defender, elite scorer, elite rebounder at his position, above average passer(had a half season stretch averaging 11 assists a game), elite off ball defense, elite steals, elite blocks for a guard.
You tell me what he was bad at? You could say 3 point shooting, but he became pretty good as he started to use the shot more further into his career. He had a season of .427 from 3 in 95-96, so he certainly was no slouch there.

Well, Lebron is THE GUY, he is THAT GUY......... the only surprise is he came very early, we expected at least 50-100 years would pass before someone would do what Lebron is doing right now.... he is THAT good, he aint no Jordan, he doesnt do it like Jordan, he is a completely different player doing it HIS way.... but he is THAT good...

If the Heat win again this year:
Lebron versus Jordan at 29 (hypothetical)
Rings: Lebron 3, Jordan 3
MVP's: Lebron 4, Jordan 3
NBA finals: Lebron 6, Jordan 3
ECF: Lebron 7, Jordan 5
Best record in NBA: Lebron 3, Jordan 1
FMVP's: Lebron 3, Jordan 3
Lebron also has a higher playoff winning percentage than MJ.
The problem for MJ stans is not so much that Lebron is keeping pace with MJ thus far but that MJ won 0 rings, 0 MVP's at ages 30 and 31. Lebron will continue to add to his legacy, barring injury while at those ages. In two years it could possibly be 4-5 rings and 5-6 MVP's for Lebron--and Lebron would still be "only" 31.

Why age, and not years playing IN THE NBA ?!
This is LeBron's 11th season. MJ's accomplishments were achieved in 2x less seasons. MJ did all that in 9x seasons. No cowardly stacking the talent deck, or team hopping to get it done either. MJ molded his 2nd best player to his image.
LeBron asked 2x other franchise caliber talents to collude to get those rings, in a historically weak conference.

Hilarious. Same exact argument people were making for Bean just a few years ago. All hypotheticals about what a guy could do, but most likely won't.
Unless he's planning on doing more colluding and corralling more all stars to team up with. Miami's core isn't getting any younger. Wade is being handled old man Duncan style because his body is shot. Bosh may opt out to get a better contract and elevate himself from spot up 3 point shooter status.
The only thing they have going for them in the long term is the East is at an all time low, so they can skate by as a 1 or 2 seed pretty easily. Don't know how many miracle shots Jesus has left in him though.

Why age, and not years playing IN THE NBA ?! This LeBron's 11th season. MJ's accomplishments were achieved in 2x less seasons.
Age is a better predictor of how many years a player has left than seasons played. Jordan played 15 seasons--he could have been like Kareem and played 20 but lacked the motivation in 94' and he did not want to play without Pippen and Jackson after 98' (he knew they would be a .500 team without Pippen, Jackson, Rodman). That disadvantages him in terms of career resume comparisons. However, it does help him in that he left in 94' and 98' on top and that made his legacy even more iconic--especially retiring after the legendary shot over Russell.
Lebron has played 2 more seasons but he was 19 and 20 in his first two. It is not as if he did anything in those years that impact him all-time, other than padding career totals, but not the things we are comparing.
Hilarious. Same exact argument people were making for Bean just a few years ago. All hypotheticals about what a guy could do, but most likely won't.
TheMan, I noted it is a hypothetical to illustrate Lebron, as of now, is not that far off Jordan's pace. It was not a prediction.
DD, you are right. Jordan won 3 rings, 2 MVP's from ages 33-35--along with playing on two of the most legendary teams ever in 96' and 97' (winning rings going 72-10 means more than winning going 56-26 imo...). These are facts, not hypothetical projections. It will be hard for Lebron to win 3 more rings and 2 MVP's over the next 4-5 years simply because it is hard to do those things over a career let alone half a decade. Bird has 3/3 for a career, Shaq 4/2, Hakeem 2/1, Kobe 5/1. It is very well possible that 5 years we look back and conclude Lebron did indeed come up short, just as Shaq (the only other real threat to MJ in the post-MJ area) ultimately did.

Lebron = 3 (2009, 2010, 2011)
Hakeem = 2 (1985, 1987)
Kobe = 2 (2004, 2011)
Russell = 1 (1958)
MJ = 0 (24-0)
Nitpicking my a*s.
This list doesn't mean much at an individual level as long as you don't find the series when the player's team was healthy and the said player was healthy and underperformed. Was Magic really to be blamed for the 1990 loss? Was Kareem to be blamed for the 1977 loss? Heck, that 1977 Laker team didn't even have a job having a HCA to begin with, as well as other teams, like LeBron's Cavs in 2009.

What do they have to be insecure about? That a few people might argue for Kareem or Wilt instead? Or trot out Russell's 11 rings?
