Agreed. Too many asterisks + question marks (like can he win without colluding in a weak conference?) on his resume.

i dont know where i would rank him, but facts are

cavaliers = zero rings

miami heat: if he wins this year: 3 rings with dwayne (all time great top 20-25), bosh (multiple all star etc) = defense of teams not only focusing on him, and deep bench. in ray allen clutch shooter, saving him twice in crucial game-situations.

playing his whole life until righ now only in joke-conference with joke-teams, is rested way more than players from the wild west.

all this must have an impact.

No, Allen Iverson has 4 scoring titles and mvp and he is not in top 20. There is no way you could put LeBron in top 20.

I have him at #11 behind Hakeem, he'd replace Hakeem if he manages to 3-peat and win FMVP while dominating the opponent.

I believe LeBron James would have gone down as one of the top 10 players of all-time whether he won multiple championships with his Super Team in Miami, constantly challenged (but did not emerge as champion nearly as often) in Cleveland, or spent his days forever with awful talent in, say, Milwaukee.

This is why I do not believe team championships are always directly correlated to one's individual greatness and ability. Did James unlock some magical truth as to how to effectively win championships beginning in 2010? Was it about finally raising and elevating his game to a level that'd allow his teams to win it all? I do not believe so, for I felt he's been at a legendary performance level since 2007 (if not earlier). The only thing that really changed was James' locale and teammates.

His championships tell me he realized he could game the system and create rings by joining forces with multiple Dream Teamers. i think one of the most important signs of a great player is how much he affects the teams for which he plays. He took a mediocre Cleveland team and instantly made them title contenders. I trust, even on the worst teams, James would have vastly improved their win total, even if it did not result in playoff success. Subsequently, adding James to a team that would have already been very, very good, barring disaster (2011), results in years worth of foregone NBA championships. Good for Miami, good for the players on that team, bad for folks who enjoy competition.

You are underrating his rings though, winning a title is NEVER easy no matter how many HOFers you got around you. 2011 was a disaster because LeBron thought shit was gonna be too easy but he learned his lesson. He realized no matter how good his team is he has to do everything he can to ensure victory.
All in all winning back-to-back titles on a stacked team>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> never coming close on a shitty ass team.

considering that lebron rings are cheaper than 2nd option rings then his 3 rings would not be worth comparing to 1 1st option ring

All in all winning back-to-back titles on a stacked team>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> never coming close on a shitty ass team.I am certain LeBron James prefers having championship rings to not having championship rings. I believe we'd all feel the same way.

I believe James played very hard in 2011. Unfortunately, I do not think the Miami Heat had any idea as to how to co-exist with one another. It seemed James and Wade (and sometimes Bosh) would just cede the floor to one another throughout each contest, in a manner that seemed to say, "Okay, now take your turn being the star." Despite such incongruity, they were a historic Dallas Mavericks late game 2 comeback away from winning the championship anyhow.

I guess the key difference between our viewpoints here is that I do not view Miami Heat championships as "his rings". I mean it when I say I feel basketball is a team sport. LeBron James wasn't a part of a championship winning team strictly because LeBron James. Further, James' teams didn't lose championships only because LeBron James. He's been an incredible basketball player who plays the game the right way since the moment he entered this league.

Being a part of a championship team that was created by three of the top stars in one conference coming together in a neutral location and yielding a super team from scratch does not really elevate James' status with me any higher than it already was.

It's like, imagine if a team were a gas tank, and a full tank symbolized a team ready to challenge or win an NBA championship. The Cavaliers prior to James' arrival was probably at a quarter tank. After his arrival (and some other changes), that tank instantly filled up to three quarters full. By 2007, it was a full tank (aka ready to compete for an NBA championship largely thanks to James). There didn't have to be a lot in the tank for James to fill things up. I think the 2011 Miami team would have likely been three quarters full before James' arrival (if not more so). So by adding such a great player like James to the mix, it completely overflowed the tank to the point where it was like, "Whoa, dude, you're spilling gasoline everywhere. Not cool."

Dude please, LeBron is a top 5 player all-time with a shot to go down as the greatest ever, at worst 2nd greatest ever.

Kobe isn't even a top 10 player all-time and was surpassed by LeBron himself after last year.
