View Full Version : Why does Kobe shoot like crap against teams in the finals

His fans always talk about how weak the east is to discredit the Miami Heat. But their boy Kobe never had a dominant series against a team in the finals.

People don't seem to realize that the more they insult another fan's player, the more defensive they'll get and the more unwilling they'll be to admitting their players' faults. It'll just go back and forth.

Lol this is all a war of egos on ISH, and half the posters are yelling their battle cries.

Neither lebron or kobe are good finals performers. Wade is better than both of them.

Nothing he did in the Finals compares to LeBron's Game 7 against the Spurs.

Lebron never averaged 30+ ppg in an NBA Finals, Kobe's been to 7 Finals and won 5 of them, led a team with Pau Gasol as the 2nd option to 3 straight Finals and is the only player to score 600+ points in 3 straight post-seasons

but I'm sure one good game from Lebron in a series where he shot under 45% is better than anything Kobe ever did on a Finals stage.

how about Kobe dropping 40/8/8 in the Finals

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNoM2kwfndw

he did that while defenders were right in his face, no wide open jump shots like your boy Bran is dared to shoot

It's funny how people make fun of Kobe shooting 41-43% in the Finals, when his career fg% is 45%, meanwhile Bran has a 57% FG season and shoots 44% in the Finals :biggums:, that's a 13% drop-off while he's being dared to shoot wide open jump shots:coleman:

You mean like when he averaged 27/6/5 on 50%+

Has Bron ever shot 50% in a finals series?

Kobe isn't a legend or top 10 player. I hold him to a more Vince Carterish standard.

No :oldlol:

Kobe shot 51% and 55% from 3  and shot 67% from 3 in the last 3 games, and may I remind you that the Nets were the best defensive team in the league that year.

have we already reached that point where we're talking at "Pau Gasol as the 2nd option" in order to diminish Kobe's supporting cast? You couldn't dream of a better second option than Pau...

Not diminishing really and I have NOTHING but love for Pau, but is he comparable to the sidekicks that most of the other all-time greats had?

Bird had McHale, Parish
Magic had Kareem & Worthy(both won Finals MVPs over him!!!)
MJ had Pippen, Grant, Rodman
Shaq had Kobe, who was better than him in many of the series in 01
Duncan had Manu(was better than Duncan in 05 Finals), Parker(won Finals MVP over Duncan), D-Rob(who was ballin' in 99)
Wade had Shaq (20/10 while leading the league in fg%)
Boston had their big 3
Lebron has Wade, Bosh

It's just relative to the sidekicks that other guys have had. Gasol is a good big man, but he is not as good as people have made him out to be in terms of putting him on Kobe's level or anywhere close to it. Pau was a guy that only made the all-star team once in 6 seasons prior to being traded to LA and was 0-16 in the Playoffs(7-8 seed blah blah, but 0 wins in 16 attempts? cmon son!!!) and the rest of the team was pretty much the same Kobe had from 06-07, who he led to the top of the West in 55 games that Pau did not play in a Laker uniform.

Let's be honest. Majority of the basketball fans HATE Kobe Bryant for the wrong reasons. Some for the rape case, some for him "running" Shaq out of LA and most just hate him because he's destroyed their teams in the Playoffs in the past. Jameer is the perfect example here.

kobes faced some of the best defensive teams in history more often than not in the finals

2001 76ers

2004 pistons

2008 celtics

2010 celtics

and in the finals allot of peoples fg% goes down. lucky for kobe he dominated every other aspect of the game ( overall scoring/rebounding/playmaking/defense ) and won 5 out of 7

so if it aint broke.. you know the rest

( held pierce and allen to 8-29 in game 7 of the 2010 finals. grabbing 15 rebounds... he finds other ways when hes having an off night )

The combination of Gasol-Odom-Bynum was just as good if not better than Pierce/Allen and Wade/Bosh.

Bynum missed the 2008 postseason and was on one leg in 2009 and 2010. Odom = 0x all-star. No way was that trio better than Boston and Miami's embarrassment of riches.

They were equal or better despite 0x all star. Add Phil Jackson and it's no contest.

Finals shooting percentage caused the Playoffs percentage to go down. He was pretty dominant in the playoffs years past.
