View Full Version : Reggie Jackson on Steven Adams: "He has the potential to be a hall of famer."

In response to being asked if he ever thinks about Adams's potential:

"I'm pretty sure, and a lot of people can attest, when he came in and I first seen him I said he has the potential to be a hall of famer. Not going to lie, there's not anything he can't do; he jumps out of the gym, he's very physical, strong, gifted, and can shoot hook shots with either hand. Actually people don't really get to see but he is also pretty comfortable shooting mid range shots, so if we ever just let him loose and he starts to figure it out I think he's a scary player in this league."

If Durant doesnt win the title with 3 future hall of famers (Westbrook, Adams, Perkins) on his team he isn't top 500 anymore.

He shot 44% from the FT line in college last year. This year in the NBA he shot 58%.

Scary how good he is considering many expected him to be in the D-League for one or even two years and then as a 20 year old rookie he's in the playoffs outplaying well respected centers like DeAndre Jordan and getting under the skin of vets like CP3 and Randolph while not giving a single shit by not responding to them.

Championship or bust.

Let's be real. Anyone has the "potential" for anything. "Potential" is an awfully vague term that gets thrown around ever so often.

Wait a few more years before you say Steven Adams has the potential to be a hall of famer, Reggie. Wayyy too early.

This. At this point the most Jackson can say is Adams has the potential to be an allstar.

He's definitely surpassed most expectations and doing very well for a rookie in the playoffs. As I said, I think he'll be a great defensive anchor for the Thunder in years to come, score a few points, get some blocks. I highly doubt he ever becomes a reliable FT shooter or midrange shooter though.

That's true, and I think like Serge he hadn't played ball all that long before coming into the NBA, so you never know. I don't see it, but I'll gladly eat my words if it happens

Paul never regained his shot after that and cost his team 2 easy points in the final moments of game 6 by hitting Nick Collison in the groin because he "thought that was Steven Adams."

they both do compare to eachother in that regard.

I think Adams only started playing ball like 3 years ago

POTENTIALLY, I think Steven Adams can be the next Joakim Noah. That's who I compare him too.

Their Per 36 rookie stats are pretty similar
Steven Adams: 8 ppg, 10 rpg, 1.7 bpg, 1.2 spg
Joakim Noah: 11 ppg, 10 rpg. 1.6 bpg, 1.5 spg

What Adams really needs to work on are his free throws. If he improves that his ppg will improve and the Thunder wont have to worry if teams hack him.

I can definitely see some similarities in their game.. obviously Noah being a vet is much more polished but Adams hasn't been playing ball all that long, he can get there. If he can get that FT percentage to 70 or so that'd be a big help to the Thunder. Noah is obviously on another level passing wise though.

Plus Noah played 3 years of College ball and Adams only played one.

They are also the same height but Adams's wingspan is almost 4 inches longer. :applause:

Yup. We'll see how he turns out in a couple years. If he puts up 10 ppg and 10 rpg along with 1-2 blocks and 1 steal then damn! OKC got a real good player out of him

You're right. Adams right now is much better than Noah when he was 20 and Adams's length suggests he's only going to improve even more than Noah did. :applause:

Magic fans = Heat fans

He's scared Adams will turn into Roy Hibbert against Miami's weak frontline.
