I wasn't convinced about this argument during the RS, but seeing him this playoffs it seems evident that this was indeed the case. Particularly defensively.
What do you guys think?

yes, saving energy

of course. he looked like James Harden on D out there for most of the season.
why weren't you convinced? did you not watch a single game of basketball? oh wait you post on ISH, sorry for asking such an obvious question.

I think it's evident he wasn't giving a single sh1t during the season.
You guys ever play pickup ball and there's that one guy (maybe a former/current NCAA player) who's playing a solid game, is one of the best 2 or 3 players on the court, but you can tell he is not trying at all?
That was lebron this RS.

yes, saving energy
Do you think this is a permanent thing?
On defense? Hell yes. Looking like James Harden out there.

I actually thought he lost some lateral quickness. Effort wasn't there, but he was getting blown by so often.

Not so much as LeBron coasting but Miami saving their energy and health for the playoffs.
I don't understand why the Spurs are praised for keeping players prime for the playoffs but Miami is criticized for 'coasting'.

^^ Miami will are championship or bust, any other team get's a pass.
Plus this year the Spurs won 62 games, The Heat only 54 games.

Don't misunderstand me, in terms of consistency, Spurs are the best franchise in any American sport right now, for the past decade.
But Miami is taking the Spurs route, saving it all for the playoffs. Miami could have easily been a 60+ win team this year, IMO.
Side note, is Miami really a championship or bust team, AGAIN, this year?

Of course he was. All back to back champions coast the next regular season. They sorta have to.

I think he made a big effort for DPotY last year and didn't get it, and this year he decided "**** it" and was indeed coasting.

No, unfair to hold it against a player or team for not 3 peating. It's not like they have shaq or Jordan on the team.

if he was 'coasting', it cost him hca and may cost him the post-season. we'll see.
hell, every team/player coasts during the season.

Definitely. Same with OKC and San Antonio. If you're a top 5 team in the league, most of the time it's chip or bust. Combined with the fact that the East is horrible and Lebrons in his prime/peak id say it is championship or bust. And Im sure everyone on the heat roster would agree with me.

When you have a top 10 player of all time in his prime and have a decent supporting cast then you are championship or bust.

Miami has obviously been coasting this season; you only needed to watch the games to tell. It's why their defense sucked and they only won 54 games: Miami's defensive scheme requires high energy levels or will give up a ton of open shots.

Whole team was coasting. Wade didn't even bother suiting up for half the games.

Definitely, let durant get an mvp as he has plenty but has hit a different level in this postseason unlike durant

LeBron is always coasting until he isn't
Yep.
4 x MVPs is enough... for now.. just wanted to do enough to get in to the place where the accolades he really only needs in his quest for GOATness are, playoffs/finals, fmpvs, rings...

An interesting thought, Lebron when his back against the wall is a different Lebron at any other point.

Defensively yes. On offense however I think he struggled with his J at times and his team was struggling to lit a fire because of mental fatigue of going to undergo an 82 game season.

Of course, and why wouldn't he be? After 2 straight championship runs and trying to go for 3peat, it's difficult to give a shiiit about another RS.
