The Boston Celtics have emerged as an increasingly intriguing destination for Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love, and the Celtics' draft position coming out of Tuesday night's lottery could be telltale in determining the feasibility of a trade, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

I'd be shocked if Love signs an extension. Only way it happens is if Danny convinces him that another move is imminent that will put the C's right back in the picture for the East...and I have no idea what that move could be.

I would welcome him as long as he signs an extension and Danny can fill the roster well.

Love would make it as a center in the East.
Meanwhile...
Brandon Bass would be part of the trade.
Humphries wouldn't be re-signed.
I like Sully/Love with Kelly backing them up.
This is just me thinking half-heartedly that a KLove trade is even remotely possible, though...not to be taken seriously.

Worst defensive frontcourt of all time.
I think Love, like KG was, could be a 2nd deal. No idea who the 1st would be though.

Bad decision for the Celtics. Let other teams fight over the overrated stat padding loser.

Exactly why it would have to be part of a 2nd deal and like you, I have no idea who that would be. A strong defender at the 3 is all I got, although who would take Jeff Green in trade?

The only idea I have hinges on Houston making a run at at max Free Agent. To do that they need to get rid of Lin and Asik - we can absorb that with Bogans and the TPE ($10.3m) we got from the Pierce/Garnett trade. Then if we trade Bass, Sullinger, 2014 1st and 2015 Clips 1st for Love...
Rondo/Lin
Bradley/#17
Green/Wallace
Love/Olynyk
Asik/Faverani
Gives the Celts a 1 year run with this lot, then Asik, Lin, Rondo, and Love expire. If they all re-sign (not Lin), Wallace and Green come off the books in 2016 and we'l have the Nets pick to use as trade bait with them

I like your thinking and see this as a very viable thing to happen. I think a deal for Love follows a deal for Asik. I'm wondering though if they can get Asik for Bogans + 2014 Philly pick (unless Sixers make playoffs next year, they will be 2014 and 2015 2nd rounders). Saves them some extra space to sign perhaps a better wing player than have Lin as the back-up PG.
I could also see Boston making Green part of the Love trade (Minny may want to dump a contract onto Boston). I'd give one of the Brooklyn picks up in order to land Love and save the Clips' pick to try to trade Bradley to Jazz for Hayward. Ainge is going to overhaul the team as much as possible next year. Their starting 5 might be all different aside from Rondo. Hopefully this team turns into a legit contender so the Eastern playoffs feature more dangerous teams.
Edit: In order to nab Love, I'm sure Minnesota will want a Brooklyn pick. Otherwise, they'll get two 2014 first rounders + Len + Goodwin from Suns or 2 2014 first rounders + Mirotic from Chicago.

I'd accept love as long as we get embiid, if we we get wiggins maybe, but exum or Parker? Nah

Love is not worth a top 5 pick alone, especially in this draft

I'm a fan of the core they have on the Wolves. Wish he would stay. Celtics would be interesting though. Would love to see him and Kelly competing every day and maybe they both improve a bit, especially Olynyk. Rondo could find Love all day.

If a non-top 5 team (by record) jumps ahead of them and puts them at #6, then Boston will probably see if they can land a big name like Love with that pick. Many people think LAL will get a rig job to vault into top 3, in which case Boston gets shafted. Ainge does not want to actually rebuild through developing young players. He's betting he can duplicate 2007's rebuild. He's got the assets to land a top player.

Build around Sullinger/Olynyk? That frontcourt has a 7 seed ceiling, and that's only if you pair them with an all-star backcourt.
You trade those guys for Love in a heartbeat and don't look back.

You're kidding right? Love is averaging 26/12 and is just entering his prime. If you really believe that then you've been drinking way too much of the 'empty stats' kool-aid in here. You realize that's all just trolling right?

How about a center who plays defense? They have 900 PFs already, they're like the Minnesota Timberwolves but with PFs instead of PGs.

Still think Lee and Barnes for Love would be great on both ends. Minny gets a borderline All-Star to take Love's spot and finally fills the gaping hole at SF they've been trying to fill for quite a while. I seriously think this could be a playoff team, depending on Barnes' development and Lee's veteran leadership. Warriors improve their frontcourt and get another All-Star while shipping Barnes before he strains their pocketbooks with a new contract. Imagine 'The Splash Trio' making it rain
Wolves:
Rubio
Martin
Barnes
Lee
Pekovic
Warriors:
Curry
Thompson
Iggy
Love
Bogut

If I'm the Warriors I do that in a second. They'd probably have to throw in a 1st as well though.

Minny bites instantly. They know Love is leaving and being able to keep a core like that to build around would keep them where they are now, giving them a chance to do something while letting Love go.

Barnes is not a borderline all star. He is a huge question mark and Minny is gonna get something bigger than him + a good but also overpaid David Lee.

All these trade talks making Love less and less likely to sign that extension.

Sorry but Love is no KG, not even 31 year old KG. You're not winning shiit with him as your #1 guy at max money.
I'd honestly rather keep the pick, but hey its not my call.

I highly doubt Minny makes a deal with GSW unless Thompson is included. Heck, at this point Green probably has more value around the league than Barnes due to his cheap contract, great motor, and defensive versatility. He also got more burn this postseason than Barnes did and that's after Barnes played really well last postseason in small ball line-ups. Minny will ask for:
Thompson + Green + Lee + 1st round pick from GSW.
That means next year GSW's starting 5 would be:
Curry-Iggy-Barnes-Love-Bogut
Minny starting 5:
Rubio-Klay-Green-Lee-Pek
Doesn't mean of course that GSW will actually do that deal. But that should be Minnesota's starting point.

Really?
In a league where Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay, Roy Hibbert, John Wall, and Marc Gasol all get max money, Love isn't worth it?
The only max guys who deserve that money MORE than Love are Durant and LBJ. Maybe Dwight. That's literally it. Love is more valuable than CP3, Westbrook, Anthony, or Harden.
Again, I think you've fallen for the 'empty stats' troll line that goes around this forum.

Lol I'm one of the biggest love supporter in here, but he's not a championship winning 1st option, and in this draft I rather gamble with one of those guys

Kevin Love is an established NBA All-Star and a guaranteed 20/10 (minimum) guy for whatever team he plays for. I'm sorry, but that is worth more than a top 5 pick, even in his draft. Sure, any player in the top 5 could end up being better, but there's probably a greater chance that they aren't that good or maybe as good. You know what you're getting with Love. A GM is probably going to take his chances with a proven All-Star over a kid coming out of college.
Boston isn't going to get Kevin Love by trading a Brooklyn draft pick in the 20s. They're going to have to part with their lottery pick in this draft. There's no doubt about it.
