View Full Version : Kobe made Gasol better while Bran made Bosh worse
Why did Gasol improve with Kobe and why did Bosh get worse with Bran?

it's the system. Triangle is better than anything Miami's running. Gasol's a great post player and a playmaker and the triangle played to his strengths, him and Kobe meshed really well while Lebron & Bosh just don't have that chemistry.
Kobe & Pau are amigos for life - it's hard to find that kind of chemistry these days.

I never understood this. When LeBald fans attempt to compare him to Kobe they say that Kobe's "a selfish ballchucker" while LeBald "gets the teammates involved and makes everyone around him better". Yet in fact, all he's done is make them spot up shooters and have people thinking they've declined :confusedshrug:

Funny. Pau seems to play MUCH better with his Spanish teammates than he does with Kobe. Weird.

You could make the strong case that the triangle offense helped him...
But then again, I remember there being a big fuss about Kobe back in I think 2012 when he got hurt. People were talking about how Bynum and Gasol were going to be "unleashed" with him out, and then they proceeded to shoot something like 6-10% below their season averages with Kobe out.
Couple things did Bosh really get worse?
Gasol was clearly the number 2 option where Bosh has become number three behind Wade and Lebron... Gasol never had that competition in the Lakers hierarchy...

Actually, Kobe is probably the best guy for a bigman to play with.
Shaq has said, that Kobe would find him in the best spots.
I understand that, as Kobe is a terrific, one of all time great post players, he knows where his players can get a good, high percentage shot

Phil Jackson and the triangle offense is a very important factor, and Kobe and Gasol had great chemistry,
LeBron doesn't look to use Bosh in the same way, in fact a lot of the time Bosh is hardly used as a power forward rather a spot up shooter on drives, I would like to see LeBron use him for a pick and pop type role, or at least get him deeper looks in the paint, its just a different scenario.

He made him better how exactly? Gasol basically averaged the same numbers his last 3 years on Memphis with the same efficiency through the 2011 Lakers. He only rebounded slightly more. Kobe didn't make anybody better, Gasol did what he had been doing for years.

one of the many myths about kobe is that he is selfish, but the truth is his passing ability is one of the greatest of all time. I mean one of his greatest playoff plays of all-time is his oop to shaq against portland, yet haters still think he is some kind of selfish ballhog.

Lebald's hall of fame cast are mainly there as decoys so nobody bothers to defend Lebald. They bail him out when needed though

Must be why Gasols FG% went up 9% while his scoring remained the same the year he was traded to the lakers..
In fact, Gasols first few years with the lakers were all career highs in FG% while maintaining the same ppg and taking the same amount of shots
So essentially you're lying your ass off

Not really, about the same.
The 08-11 are the best years I've seen him have by a long way and I think what he did against Garnett in 10 an Dwight in 09 was really special
I give Kobe and Phil alot of credit for it, I've followed his career extensively and he simply wasn't as agressive and dominant as he was those years anywhere else.
When people start talking about numbers and what he averaged in Memphis, you realize how ****ing stupid these idiots are. They probably never watched Pau a day in their life before he moved to LA. Probably didn't watch the finals in 08 either. There was a HUGE change in the way he went about the game and it was on display in the most important moments.

Yes, I agree. Chris Bosh can't play defense and rebound because of Lebron.
It has nothing to do with him aging.

He's 30, not 40.
He could probably get a few rebounders if he was playing the of $20 million spot-up shooter.

His TS% is basically the same from his last full season with Memphis in 2007. He was taking more ft's on Memphis as opposed to the Lakers show improved his efficiency there. He was never really all that better on the Lakers than he was in the 2007 season.
