Many of you commented in my "Favorite Metal Albums" thread and it is quite obvious that there are plenty of metalheads here on ISH. I love to talk about metal and discover new artists/bands, and was hoping to foster that type of environment in my other thread, however, just a thread devoted to albums is too shallow. In this thread feel free to discuss anything metal related: What songs you like, what up-and-coming bands or albums are going to be good, what are your favorite bands, what gear you have, what concerts you are attending or have attended in the past, some songs you and your band have made, etc.

Basically, feel free to post anything metal related, except do try to keep core music to a minimum if possible, however it is okay to talk about decent core bands if you so choose (please no Emmure, Asking Alexandria or any other bull shit though). So in essence, all metal genres are allowed. Please remember that people may have different tastes than you. Try not to insult others' music because they like a band that you do not or because they have different overall tastes in music than you. This should be a place to show others good metal music, and a good place to find bands that you have never heard of or listened to before. For all you know, you may come to like genres or bands that you previously disliked. Cheers boys. :cheers:

I'll start off with this: a full album by an extremely unknown french power metal band called "Heavenly." I recently found this band and I love them, but for some reason they aren't well known at all, despite having four very good albums. I don't know about female vocalists, but Russell Allen in Symphony X is actually my favorite in all of metal.

Not a fan of female vocalists. Probably the only female singer I can put up with is Skin.

As for males, Dio is the be all end all for me. As far as living vocalists are concerned, it's hard to argue against guys like Dickinson, Halford (even though I personally think Halford is done), Blitz, Anselmo, etc. I still Matt Barlow is a badass.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard made a metalish album called Infest The Rats Nest last year that was...surprising to say the least. The band has some serious ADD when it comes to their genre which has led to some interesting stuff. If you like Thrash, Bluesy Metal Ala Early Sabbath, or even stoner rock you might dig the album

Yeah they mostly play psych, stoner, and garage rock.

I thought their use of a Microtonal guitar in the album Flying Microtonal Banana was pretty cool. Not my favorite band or anything, but its nice to see rock bands finding a way to still be creative. Also they might have the best band name. Cracked up for a good minute when I first heard of them
