[QUOTE]Charlotte Hornets Name Returns to Carolinas

MAY 20, 2014 - After 12 years, the Charlotte Hornets name has officially returned to the Carolinas. Today the name of Charlotte

They are still the Bobcats to me.

I believe the ownership of history will be slightly confusing for me. The Baron Davis era is now part Hornet/part Hornet, but halfway belonging to the Pelicans and halfway the Hornets, as opposed to always being the Hornets but half in Charlotte and half in New Orleans. Now it's half Pelican, half Hornet but New Orleans keeps the latter but loses the former, which they previously owned.

I feel like this has to negatively effect the space-time continuum in some regard.

Yeah, this is why its stupid for a name change, they are perfectly fine as Charlotte Bobcats and should remain as the Bobcats.

The Charlotte Hornets just feels right. The Bobcats never really caught on for me. Surely though, it's all a matter of opinion.

It's no different than if Baron Davis were traded. He'll have stats for when he played with Charlotte, New Orleans, L.A., etc.

The Hornets will own the Hornets' history, but only up until 2003, at which point the Pelicans take over the rest of the first Hornets history, until now, because the Bobcats are now the Hornets.

Speaking of which, the Charlotte Hornets will now own the Bobcats history, yes? So I guess we can just treat it as Charlotte history all the way through.

Either way, it's all water under the bridge. I just think it's cool the Charlotte Hornets are back. Can't wait for George Zidek Night.

P.S. How lazy was Upper Deck? Their rookie photo shoot that year looks like it was shot on an outdoor hoop. I remember the Jerry Stackhouse rook looking just as ridiculous.

Meaning that the New Orleans pelicans were once tha charlotte hornets also and that also means they rep them, that's their franchise bloodline no matter what, just like Oklahoma city thunder has seattle supersonics blood running through their franchise no matter what.

No, the hornets have all the history and accomplishments from that team, the only thing they own are everything under the New Orleans name

The bobcats where given everything that belonged to that city

I understand what they say and claim but it doesn't erase the fact that them niguhs were Charlotte Hornets first. You cant change the past.

The honeycomb is going to cover the entire court? That's ugly as **** and would probably look worse on tv.

Love the Hornets name change, tho. Love the logo as well.

LOL.

So stupid.

This is another reason why rooting for the team names or team jerseys really is just that...all you're rooting for is literally the name and the colors. And these names and colors can be given back to a different city just for the fukk of it, as you see here.

I'm glad I'm not a Hornets/Pelicans fan.

Where's the honeycomb paint?I forgot the order of operations, but I think they had it at first then pulled it. Sort of how the Rockets initially had this:

But eventually dialed it down to this:

On the same day that we get our name, colors and records back we also screw the Pistons and get a top ten draft pick! It was a good day for basketball in Charlotte. :basketball

I will say this just makes the Pelicans name/brand/logo/color change even less impressive.

Good for Charlotte, hopefully the once rabid fanbase returns to support this team

People are now too "accustomed" with the Jazz for Utah.. It obviously makes no damn sense though, they should've changed the name when they moved from New Orleans to Utah. I don't think they'll ever do it but I'd love to see New Orleans back with the Jazz name while changing Utah to something else.

Well when you think about it "Lakers" makes no sense for L.A. either.

I agree with you for the most part, although, all it would take is a new owner that hates the name.
