I don't watch much college ball so I have virtually no familiarity with these guys other than highlights and hearsay.
But I don't see why anyone thinks these guys are legit "fortune changers" in this league. They're wing players, and clearly don't have the physical tools to ever be on the level of a Lebron, or the length to me the matchup problem KD is. So what are teams expecting out of them, exactly? Paul George? Rudy Gay? Carmelo? Michael Beasley? Pierce? Tmac? Joe Johnson? These are pretty much what you get when you build around an athletic/scoring wing players. Not exactly a recipe for success. Yeah some of them are decent players, but none are reasons to believe it's smooth sailing from here if you win them in the lottery. Yet every year players like that get drafted and fans think it's the first step to a dynasty.
As we're seeing in the playoffs, if you don't play team ball, you're not going that far. How easily Wiggins and Parker can score the basketball in college really has no bearing on what they'll do as NBA players. It's hard to really effect the NBA game from the SF position by scoring. Look at the empty stats Melo puts up, and other perimeter type players like Love and Joe Johnson. These guys get max deals and give you nothign meaningful.
Unless you have a SF like Bird or Lebron, putting your salary cap $$ into that position is fools gold, especially in the new CBA. I don't see why teams are that excited to potentially get these guys. The odds are very low either of these guys will be good on a historical level to the point that you can really center a title team around them. Not saying it can't happen, but it's really unlikely.
