View Full Version : Is Kevin Durant a Franchise Player?

He was pretty good in the regular season. The NBA isn't about the regular season though. It's all about the playoffs, and Kevin Durant has been pretty underwhelming in these playoffs.

Is he really a franchise player if he can't play well in the playoffs?

Such a backwards place we post in.

Everyone shits on harden for regressing in the playoffs but no one talks about the MVP crapping the bed?

Until this game, Durant didn't regress that badly. He played below his standards, but he still put up the numbers and his team's in the WCF. After this game though.. I do agree that if we scrutinized Kobe and Lebron so heavily, we need to do the same with Durant.

Harden flat out fell off the face of the Earth though. You could've sent a search team out there with a calculated mission and you still wouldn't have been able to find that fat ****.

You forget how badly he's played because in his worst games, he's still been carried to a win.

When comparing Durant and Harden, you have to look at the type of defensive attention each player got, Harden went ghost mode with wayyyy less attention, in fact, he buried himself in under own bricks.

Can we make threads about how Lebron isn't a franchise player if his team doesn't threepeat?

Before this game, he's had 1 awful game in the playoffs, that game 4 against Memphis when Jackson carried the team. Aside from that, he's only had a few poor shooting nights. Overall his production hasn't been MVP-caliber in the slightest, but it's not like he's disappeared entirely.

After this game though, I have no problem with the scrutiny. If he's going to be mentioned with Kobe and Lebron, he needs to come up big like they did when they won, and take the heat like they did when they didn't win.

No. 2 FMVPs. His franchise player status is a done deal.

You can't un-RING that bell.

In game 5 against LAC he was a complete no-show and was saved by Westbrook and a string of bad calls at the end.

Cough *collusion* cough.

Please, dude. He chased rings in his prime by leaving his own team to join a finals MVP on his team. Unprecedented.

This. Durant is definitely a Franchise player.

OKC will come back and win the next 4, then smash heat/pacers in the finals.

In saying that however, Ibaka...

I have always wondered this. When he had shitty teammates, the Sonics/Thunder were a lottery team. They got Westbrook, Ibaka, Harden and Perkins helped when he got there. I think you could put just about any decent SF in there and the team would be good. Not make it to the Finals, but still good. A franchise player has to be able to mask holes for your team and impact the game in more than 1 way. If KD's shot ain't falling, he's invisible on the court.

According to this forum Chris Bosh was a franchise player, so yes KD (2nd best player in the world) is definitely

so you are saying he isnt a franchise player, although he carried his team to the wcf in 2011 and 2014 and to the finals in2012. and yet he series aint over

so blake, lma, cp3, melo etc will never even be close to franchise-player

Honestly Durant should just flame out now and end his postseason, too many asterisks in the playoffs anyway for it to mean anything.

1st round, completely carried by Reggie Jackson, and Ibaka, with Perkins hitting the occasional clutch game tying shot. Randolph was also suspended in the crucial game 7. That's 3-4 asterisks already

2nd round carried by Goatbrook averaging 27 7 and 7, and refs saved OKC's season in Game 5. 2 asterisks at least in that series

So 5 asterisks in just the first 2 rounds??

No point even trying for the ring due to obvious asterisks, and even if they win Westbrook will probably win FMVP anyway :confusedshrug:
