If I'm honest, I feel befuddled. If they go small they get shot off the court. But on the other hand none of the big/normal sized lineups seem to have the right offensive firepower. The only thing I'm holding out for is that Brooks for some reason still hasn't run the lineup that put the Clips away (Russ/Reggie/KD/Nick/Adams) a single time this series. I'd still like to see that. And bury Thabo in the bench again, my God.

You can never count that team out. No matter how badly Durant and Westbrook are struggling, they are simply too gifted and too dynamic of players to definitively count out. It doesn't look good right now, but they have a chance. And that should be good enough to stick with them.

A part of me hears Mike Breens voice in the back of my head shouting "ho ho, they did it again!!!!" while OKC backdoor sweeps the Spurs but nah, this shit is over. Brooks was even crying in the postgame presser. This team is done.

I will cheer for the Thunder every second until their eliminated, but realistically I don't believe that they can win this series without Ibaka.
The way OKC is structured, losing Ibaka is a bigger blow than the Heat losing Bosh.
And we all know that without Bosh, the LeBron era Heat wouldn't have any rings.
Don't see how anyone can expect OKC to win a ring without Serge.

I'm not a fan really, but I definitely don't think they are done.
I just think Brooks needs to scrap his initial plan and change shit up.
I think he needs to go super small way more.
I'd run with Reggie/Westbrook/Butler/Durant/Adams a lot. I'd switch everything as well. No more trying to hedge out on picks or fight over screens. Just straight switch everything. Also like Reggie/WB/Durant/Collison/Adams a bit more.
Make them to go the post and beat you. Yes, this is going to require Durant to defend Diaw/Duncan at times. Tough shit...he's got to man up and do it.
Thabo should never touch the court again in this series. Get Lamb and Jones ready in the days off and give them a chance.
Also, never take both Durant and Westbrook out at the same time. That should be obvious, but sadly it needs to be stated.

It's just hilarious how Thabo goes 0-9 shooting in games 1 and 2 and then in garbage time of game 2 Lamb comes in and gives a giant middle finger to Brooks by shooting 6-8 and scoring 13 points.
Brooks is such a jackass. The only adjustment I see him making too is starting Butler at the 2 which sounds like a ****ing disaster because Butler will give up too many open 3s to Danny Green.

Thabo's off ball defense is actually kind of shitty at this point in his career though. And the Spurs don't iso enough for him to have an impact.
Brooks is always a game behind on adjustments...if he even makes the proper adjustment at all.
Butler at the 2 would be better, but honestly I think they should just start small. Force the Spurs out of what they want to do...which is spread the ball around, pick and roll, corner threes...etc.
Go super small and turn Splitter or Duncan into post scorers...switch everything and stay at home on shooters. Do something unique!
Jackson/WB/Butler/Durant/Perkins to start.
At least try it...there is no downside.

Pretty sure they tried a line-up similar a couple times in game one and just got destroyed in the post by Duncan, Blair and Splitter. Even Kawhi. Perkins can TRY to contain Duncan, but then you got a mismatch on Durant with Blair or Splitter. Plus Durant is then exerting too much energy on defense.

That is what it takes though. Jesus Christ this era of players is so bitch made. Dirk was doing this shit and he's ancient. Durant can't guard Diaw in the post and try hard on defense? He's in the middle of his ****ing prime!
Hell...do it and then double the post if they prove they can score or implement a zone over the next couple days and go with that.
They did try it for a brief stretch in game 1, but Brooks abandoned it very quickly iirc. A strategy like this needs to be used long enough to see if the Spurs can consistently do something they don't really want to do.
Or you can just get destroyed playing more standard while Danny Green bombs 7 threes and parker carves you up.
Also, totally unrelated to our conversation and not directed at you....I never want to here how over-rated Ibaka's defense is again....or how he's all flash and no substance...LOL

I've been saying this since before game 1. OKC's only hope is to try and outscore the Spurs. Period.
Throw out a lineup of Westbrook/Lamb/Durant/PJ3/Adams and outrun the Spurs in transition and in the halfcourt go to the Westbrook/Durant pick and roll and crash the glass.
Shouldn't be that hard of a concept. Lamb and PJ3 are also as reliable of perimeter shooters as any on OKC right now. Even Caron Butler was passing up wide open 3s in game 2. Can't have him on the floor if he's going to do that.

Need to play defense. Westbrook must stop Parker and the Thunder must stick to the 3 point shooters.

Which is exactly what the lineup I want OKC to run will do.
Believe me, Lamb will have no problem staying with Green around the perimeter. Lambs weaknesses are post defense and shit. And I wouldn't give two shits if they tried to post Green up on Lamb. PJ3 is a solid utility defender, Adams is our best option for Duncan (did well today and in limited action during game 1), and you'd just live with KD on Splitter understand the rewards that we reap on offense.

Have PJ guard splitter. Durant doesnt need to be in the post defending. I might hard trap Parker like the Heat do, but I dont know if the Thunder have practiced the rotations necessary.

The Spurs are not going to let the same thing happen again. Besides, they're a much better team, and OKC much worse, than last time.
OKC can still win 2, at most 3 games if the Spurs have a mini-meltdown, but they'll finish the job.

Called this series in 5 games before Ibaka got hurt. Changed it to a sweep when they announced he was out for the playoffs. After seeing them just absolutely destroy my Blazer it was obvious OKC had no chance. LaMarcus Aldridge and Lillard weren't scrubs. Spurs are just an amazing team that can stop gets individuals. The only Spurs kryptonite is Lebron and Wade (and Ray Allen if the game is on the line).

It's looking really dark without Ibaka. It doesn't help that Thabo and Perkins are useless even by their standards and veterans Butler and Fisher have forgotten to show up.
While all 5 players on the court for the Spurs at all time can defend, score, pass and be aggressive, they can basically just put 5 defenders on Westbrook and Durant. :(
