In '08 Kobe under performed, but he lost to the better team.

However, Kobe lost the '04 Finals almost by himself. Duncan has never done that in a series, let alone the Finals. People still hold 2011 against LeBron everyday. 2004 was one of the biggest choke jobs ever. The only Western team that beat a prime Kobe and Shaq was Duncan, and he did it with a 41% shooting sophomore Tony Parker.
