Yep. I was really hoping the Celtics would rise into the top 3, but noooo, we go down a spot because of ****ing Cleveland.

It's just like the NBA has given them do over after do over and they keep ****ing it up. It's sad that teams that are actually going to get better are stunted by this complete circus of a franchise. Pathetic.

It's not even hate really. It's more like "Wow Cleveland is going to fcuk this up again when my team could do better." Even in the shit East with all the expectations CLE couldn't even get in the playoffs.

Orlando has been gifted 2 of the best centers in their generation only to see them both walk to the Lakers because of incompetent management.

Except that isn't true at all. Shaq left because he wanted to be in the big lights. Dwight was traded.

Shaq left because management by management and the city during contract negotiations. Dwight asked out because of shitty management. You know what they say about people in glass houses.

Dwight left because the Magic weren't winning championship games. This isn't on management at all. They just fell short.
Shaq literally said it himself:
"Fifty percent of it was that I was selfish. I had a lot of stuff going on … movies and albums … that I couldn't pass up," Shaq said following a packed retirement announcement at his palatial Isleworth home with the Magic-blue tile roof. "Forty percent of it was the Sentinel poll and the fact that I was very sensitive at a young age. Ten percent of it was that Bob (Magic president Bob Vander Weide) and the organization didn't move quickly enough (to match the Lakers' offer)."

You know, for being an Orlando fan you don't know a lot of what went on between O'Neal, the Magic and the city itself. The year Shaq became a free agent most people in Orlando didn't feel he was worth over $120 milllion for his contract, also Shaq and coach Hill didn't get a long at all, also Orlando media was against O'Neal basically stating he wasn't a good role model for kids either because he had a longtime girlfriend with no plans to marry. O'Neal even stated that his celebritism in Orlando was like "being a big fish in a dried up pond". Also let's not forget the fact that Penny Hardaway and him had a power struggle. Hardaway felt he was the better player and didn't want O'Neal to make more money than him. O'Neal had a difficult year in 1996 because of the Olympic team and all the flack he got from his Olympic teammates with his situation.
In the end Dwight left because he wasn't happy there. SVG was completely the wrong coach for the type of mental softy Howard is and SVG isn't a players buddy-buddy coach.
People can bitch and moan all they want, the NBA draft lottery has been this setup for over 20+ years and there's a chance this could've happen.

Hopefully not. Their biggest screw-up was getting Mike Brown back, then it was the Bennett pick so far.

honestly i am in principle against the draft lottery. Would prefer the NFL system of worst team gets first pick, second worst gets second pick, etc. Champion gets last pick.
I know some people cry about tanking, but imo no one even pays attention to the bottom feeders of the league. People watch the contenders.
The NFL is by far the #1 league in the US. All american sports leagues should try to emulate it as much as possible.
An NFL draft system will push parity on the league, which imo is a huge reason the NFL is successful.
Also the NBA should reschedule games as the season goes on to ensure the best games are nationally televised. Eg. flex schedule out of a laker/bulls game that is missing kobe and rose.

It wouldn't work when teams play 82 instead of 16 games and can see 6 months prior that they won't be making the playoffs.
"I don't watch the bad teams anyway" and right now why would you as botton teams are purposefully structured to lose games.
The problem is that throught the regular season every night there's a bad team playing a good team but often those games are not worth it to watch.
To say that it's OK for teams to tank because "you don't really watch them anyways" is a ridiculous argument.

The draft lottery needs to be reformed so there's less incentive to continually suck. It's not a coincidence that teams that continue to "rebuild through the draft" or "commit to a youth movement" always repeat the same mistakes. To solve the problem the NBA needs to change it so the top 16 teams make the playoffs regardless of conference and every team in the lottery has equal chance to win. If you've already received a top pick the previous year you automatically get slated into the 14th pick. This discourages tanking and you don't have playoff teams like Phoenix or Minnesota continually getting low picks that don't make a difference.
