The number of 6'8''or so basketball players who could do that probably numbers in the hundreds. I would be shocked if Deng couldnt do it in his day. He isnt unathletic. He just isnt a godly athlete. Paul Pierce could do dunks like that. Im not saying its garbage or anything....im saying...its not noteworthy.
I could do a 360 at his age and hes almost 6 inches taller than me. Its one of the only fancy dunks people who can barely dunk can do. Aside from off the backboard lobs probably the easiest dunk you can get people excited about.
360s feel natural for two foot jumpers. A nice windmill was always harder to me. my "windmill" was a travesty. More of a...side pump.

I wish they could come up with two separate things regarding athleticism. 360 is amazing but it's more of body control and balance opposed to raw hops. I've seen some people who can't really hop get a 360.
But I think that is meaningful when you have someone attacking the rim, getting contact, and making the lay up.

Dunking off the bounce is the true chump move.
Don't sleep on Paul Pierce's athleticism.

Athleticism isn't just dunking, it is lateral movement, it is speed and quickness and a whole bunch of other metrics.

that's funny because I'm the opposite. I've never been able to dunk on a real rim but I have big hands so I can palm the ball and my windmill is nasty on the foot shorter rims that kids use.
I used to substitute teach part time and when I had gym I'd be throwing down monster jams for a bunch of 8 year olds.
Jabari is a decent athlete. That's common knowledge

Jabari is a really good athlete, even by NBA standards. He's not an ELITE athlete on the level of Wiggins but neither are wings like Melo or Harden and they seem to be doing alright.

I think some on here would be surprised at the dunks some players can do in a practice environment. I always watch these guys barely get any lift in game and they are doing between the legs and what not in a layup line.
And more importantly, imo, about athleticism: lateral quickness separates the good for the great (on both ends) and I don't think Jabari has it.

Yeah, but I've heard people say he can't make it in the NBA as a SF due to his lack of athleticism (and is too short to play PF, making him a dreaded tweener.)
To me that's a complete non-issue... he's definitely above the minimum athletic threshold, the question is, does he have the skills? And from what I've seen his skills as a wing player are more advanced than many prospects for whom position is never called into question.

I really doubt there is anyone in the NBA that's 6'8 that can't 360 I would be willing to bet Mike Dunleavy could 360 easily if he wanted to.
Not to say that Parker is not athletic but seriously 6'8 with long arms and someone who has been getting the best training possible, 360 ain't nothing.

You think he has next level lateral quickness?

I don't know if those guys are all just copying each other (although the last is an "NBA Scout's" opinion), but I'm definitely not the only one who think he doesn't have elite lateral quickness.
So his upside is Melo-level and not Durant (good-to very good, but not great). What's the problem here?

Melo had a decent arsenal at Cuse, but he was still more of a bullyballer, PP was nowhere near that polished, Durant was mostly able to abuse his length and get his shot whenever he wanted. Maybe Beasely at Kansas? Maybe, but Jabari's got a really nice skillset for a 19 year old.
His 2013 measurements have him at a 6'11.5"- 7' wingspan too.

I'm starting to feel really good about taking him with the 2nd pick, if Embiid's gone.I really want to see Mil with Wiggins. Not because I think they'd have good offensive chemistry... I just want to witness the longest, most athletic lineup of all time.

While I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, draft express and their scouting reports are awful. He's a pretty good athlete. I don't like Parker at all but I think that he'll be a good scorer in the NBA. I don't think that he'll be a good defender though. You can take all that stuff that's said with a grain if salt. "Durant lacks strength could be a problem scoring in the NBA". He couldn't put up 185lbs once. That doesn't seem to matter though.

plenty of great players were not great athletes (compared to other nba players)
very few forwards have ever shown the skillset Jabari did at his age.
