View Full Version : If the Spurs are so good, why can't they beat OKC with Ibaka?

Ibaka is a great 3rd option and a borderline all-star, but how is it that this Spurs team which you have all jizzed over for months (and in a more general sense for the last decade) can't beat OKC now? They have loss 7 straight when Ibaka plays. How can this super deep Spurs team with one of the best benches, a top 5 GOAT coach, the best 3-point shooting team, etc., etc., etc., best record in the whole league in one of the most loaded conferences in history...

If this team loses a series to a team they blew out twice, just because Ibaka got back in the lineup, that's absolutely ridiculous.

Don't tell me about mismatches and how Ibaka can shut down Tiago and Duncan and cut off the paint from Parker. Everyone knows that. I don't know how one player who isn't even an all-star can shift everything.

Calling it now: Spurs getting backdoor swept.

Refs were balling hard in that game. Also ibaka is the thunders key player.

One game.

They'll still win the series (and the Finals) so, yes, they are really very good.

It was one game, and Oklahoma City made two lineup changes. It's kind of like when players go out and the team begins to perform better. Opposing teams aren't prepared for the lineups they put on the floor to compensate. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Oklahoma City win this series, this thread is utter shit.

Let's not forget that Oklahoma City has won seven straight games against the Spurs with Ibaka in the line-up and eleven of their last thirteen with him protecting the paint, not to mention helping to space the floor on offense with his efficient outside shooting.

Hopefully, Ibaka can continue to give meaningful minutes for the rest of the series and not be limited with by re-injuring his calf.

But again, this goes much further than one game. The Spurs have averaged 94 points per 100 possessions with Ibaka on the floor this season and just over 122 points per 100 possessions with him off the floor.

The Thunder just wanted this game much more than the Spurs, last night it reminded me of game 4 in 2nd round at Portland when they played with little to no urgency. They will be fine next time, Spurs will close out the series in game 5.

For someone who is a Nets fan, you sure do ride the Spurs, dude.
