Dan Lebatard: "You are taking a discounted rate to stay in Miami?" Chris Bosh: "If that's what it takes yeah... I love it here, I don't want to go anywhere."

just recently on his radio show.

Lang Greene @LangGreene about 2 hours ago
Just listened to a pretty damn good interview with chris bosh on ESPN Radio. Said he would be willing to take a pay cut to stay in Miami

Center should be #1 priority by miles for Miami. This is by far Miami's most glaring weakness- post defense against centers and rebounding. With a center like Gortat Miami would be unstoppable. They would rape every team. No weakness. The defense, rebounding and offense would be a lot better. A wing player does nothing to alleviate Miami's major weaknesses.

yeah i know that, addressing their issue at center would be obvious but i would expect them to take another wing defender too. more youth

Get Spencer Hawes, then you can have Bosh and Hawes draining 3s

Seriously though in the C department for UFA all you have is Kaman, Hawes, Birdman, Stiemsma. I would go for Hawes. Especially since he can spread the floor and play big sometimes. Keep Birdman as well.

Would never argue that he deserves it...but I wouldn't be surprised if he opted to take a cut again for the betterment of the team, he's just THAT unselfish. Plus being the leader in endorsement deals doesn't hurt that cut much...if he wins again this year, his endorsement figures will only rise, as well

Birdman is good thru 2015....and will most likely retire a Heat IMO

Stiesma isn't a bad pickup, he can crash the boards...main thing is to have a big that can run the floor and fetch the Rebs

1. Nobody in Miami needs to be taking a discount. It is time for Mickey to step up and pay more in taxes if that is what it takes. Why in the world is a Millionaire footing the bill for a Billionaire.

2. Thanks Bosh, but no thanks. Win, Lose, or Draw you have got to go. Great member of a historic Miami Heat roster, but it time for some new low post blood. Do not want to go through another season of you averaging less than 7 rebounds per game.

Ahh! Thought he was UFA. Yeah an Energy player for sure. Someone like Mahimi. To think hes only on a 4m/yr contract and pacers play 10-20x better with him on the floor than Hibbert lol.

You guys realize they're already 6 million over the cap with 5 players under contract right?

Even if Bosh takes a 5 mil paycut, they're still over the cap with 5 players.

Him taking less just saves the owner money. It doesn't help them sign players.

AintNoSunshine
05-27-2014, 10:16 PM
That's smart for him and great for the team, can you image Bosh going back out there and try to be the 1st or even 2nd option for a bad team? He'd want to stay in Miami and play behind Lebron and with a very balanced cast where he can get away with his occasional disappearing acts. Winning with no pressure and still get paid 10+mil.

The premise is that Wade and James will also take a small pay cut but I doubt that ever comes into fruition. This team will look a lot different during the summer and it will be really interesting to see how Pat Riley can reshape this team.

I have a hunch that they aren't willing to pay Mario Chalmers, so it will be interesting

They all agreed to the terms and signed their contracts the same day...equality up front, but even they knew it was only in hindsight as Lebron would break out

He can afford to take a pay cut with all the money that he's saving on child support by claiming to be a Texas resident.

Chris Bosh is taking a paycut so that Miami sign another big man.

Plot twist: He's demanding it be Jason Collins.

If this is Bosh's attitude, I definitely think Wade & LBJ would be receptive to altering their contracts (especially if they 3peat). Gortat would be an ideal pickup, unless they somehow snag Asik from Houston for peanuts. It'll all depend on how much less Wade/Bosh/Chalmers/LBJ want to take in order to facilitate a Gortat-like signing. If they decide against doing so, then the rest of this post is moot:

I can see them also playing hardball with Rio, using their tax payer's MLE on Diaw, bring over James Ennis, using BAE on a defensive wing like James Johnson (assuming they bring back Chalmers), and re-sign Allen for vet's minimum. Trade their 1st round pick + 2nd rounder + cash to Philly for their three best 2nd round picks. Draft Jordan Clarkson, Patrick Young, and a Euro prospect PF/C.

Chalmers-Wade-LBJ-Bosh-Gortat
Cole-Allen-Johnson-Diaw-Birdman
Rest of Bench: Clarkson, Ennis, Young, Haslem, Hamilton.

Start Ennis on nights when Wade sits out (imo they need to limit Allen's RS minutes to save him for playoffs), groom Young to take a bigger role once Haslem (and potentially Birdman) retire in summer 2015, and give Johnson burn to rest LBJ more during regular season. Diaw can be a great small ball 4 off the bench; they'd have tons of line-up flexibility.

Texas law states that the maximum amount of money that someone has to pay is $2,600 a month. His baby mama was trying to get $30,000 a month and he took her to court and won.
