Probably destroyed. I mean who was actually able to say they could shut down prime Shaq?

a train cant stop prime shaq
Ibaka is not a great post defender. He is good at blocks and on the weak side.
And before you ask, Blake Griffin is terrible in the post.

Sabonis did the best job of any other player besides Hakeem (from what I hear). So in other words hell no. Shaq not only would body him out of the way, he's so powerful that he'd dunk on Ibaka even if he were in position.

This. With Adams guarding the post, Ibaka the weak side we're set for years.

Not a chance. That's not a slight on Ibaka though.
There was nothing - NOTHING - you could do to stop prime Shaq.

Sabonis probably did the best job considering his age and his knees an size.
Ben Wallace did a decent job in the 2004 Finals.
I don't think Ibaka could guard him very well with the type of defender he is.

Rodman was strong enough to do a decent job on Shaq also. And he could get under Shaq's skin. There's no chance in hell Ibaka would slow Shaq down.

Nobody. I feel like the guy who did the best job on him was old Sabonis. Maybe he'd do better in his prime.

Shaq made a mockery of DPOY Mutombo in the 2001 finals.
Ibaka would suffer the same fate, 1 vs. 1.

To all you mentioning Mutombo: Mutombo was at the tail end of his career when he faced prime Shaq.
Mutombo's prime was the mid- to late 90s whereas Shaq's prime was early 00s.

Considering how Marc and Zbo had their way on him quite a few times in round 1, I sincerly doubt it. He doesn't do as well against people that can throw their weight on him.

Depends which era we are talking about...
Shaq would foul out by halftime in today's game.
But in Shaqs era, Ibaka would get demolished. He was just too much to handle.
Sabonis and Divac did the best at containing him.

Uhm, the size difference between Ibaka and Shaq would just be comical. Of course he would destroy him, as he would with any other player in the league. I'd rather having Ibaka coming over from the weak side and try block Shaq when he isn't dunking on his defender

I used to think this, but the way they let bron stiffarm people and bull to the hoop, you have to think prime shaq would get the same leeway he had when he played. He still got called for offensive fouls then. Dudes still flopped back then.

A prime Chamberlain was taller, longer, stronger, and more athletic. The only area Shaq would have had an edge would have been in body-fat.
And no, Shaq is not going budge a prime Wilt down low.

Taller, longer, yes. Stronger, no. More athletic - maybe. Shaq definitely had the stronger base/lower body.

Shaq is too big for Ibaka. He would back him down in post, and dunk on him time after time. Anyone you thinks otherwise, doesn't understand post play.

There really was NO great matchup for Shaq. Historically, I would pick guys like Wilt or Arits Gilmore to guard him. They are taller, very strong, and were touch SOB's. But even with them Shaq was SUCH A FREAK! He was very athletic, had great footwork on the block, and had a great touch down low to complement his power. Ibaka isn't a good matchup at all in my book.

To be fair, Shaq didn't do that with Rodman. Rodman took him out of position before Shaq caught the ball, which is very good defense.
But Ibaka isn't Rodman. I honestly don't see Ibaka doing much to stop Shaq. Ibaka did a decent job guarding BG by being physical with him, but Shaq is stronger, taller, longer, and have much better footwork. Plus he could be dirty and give you a couple of elbows to the face.
Regardless, Ibaka wouldn't even guard Shaq. That would be Perkins. And Shaq played better defensively players than Perkins and Ibaka with Duncan, Hakeem, Mutombo, Ben Wallace, Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Mourning, and etc.
