I didn't watch the game. I'll watch the first and third quarters (unless something more important happened in the others?) and I'll get back to you.

But how you can call yourself a Spurs fan is beyond me. You obviously wait for shit like this to happen, to say "yh right Kobe > Duncan" It's pretty embarrassing for a grown man, don't you think?

2003: lost to a one-man army
2004: top three Finals meltdown
2005: team misses the Playoffs
2006: loses 3-1 series lead

And this was in Kobe's prime. Duncan's prime ended half a decade ago (actually more).

2001: Swept by Lakers with homecourt and best regular-season record.
2002: Led every game in the series in the 4th quarter and only won 1.
2004: Back-door swept after leading 2-0. (sound familiar?)
2006: Beaten by a one-man team (Dirk Nowitzki) with one of the worst supporting casts to ever make it to the finals.
2008: Gave up leads of 20 and 17 to eventually lose the series 4-1
2011: One of the biggest 1st round upsets in NBA playoff history when the #1 seed Spurs lose to the #8 seed Grizzlies.
2012: Backdoor swept by the Thunder after being up 2-0
2013: Fumble the championship at the finish line, missing FTs, not securing one defensive rebound, and Pop making dumb substitutions. And let's not forget...

What a very logical way of looking at it.

No Derek Anderson in 2001. He was Duncan's second option. If Lamar Odom went down in 06 Kobe would have an excuse. Learn history, ****nut.

Again, in 2002 they lost to the clearly better team. Duncan had some collapses in the 4th quarter, but he was the only Spur who showed up (29/17/5/3 in the series, whilst Parker, Bowen and Rose combined for about as many points, D. Rob was banged up and missed two games).

Jason Terry in the '06 Playoffs: 19/3/4. Josh Howard: 17/7/2. One man army? That's better than what Duncan got from '00-'04.

Want me to continue?

Derek Anderson only played 40 minutes that series. Antonio Daniels stepped up in his place, but Duncan still under performed.

Some of what you wrote is completely made up (and I established the '06 Mavs were anything but a one man army), and most of it has no context (no Derek Anderson in '01, no Robinson for a bunch of games in '02).

Duncan averaged 32 PPG on 56% in the Dallas series, and apparently he choked? If that's true, Kobe choked in every series he lost.

I'll also add that in seasons 2004, 2006, and 2008 the Spurs went into those as defending champs (having won the previous years) and failed to defend their title. Something that Duncan has never done, like other all-time greats (Jordan, Magic, Kareem, LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, Hakeem, Russell, etc.)

In 2003 Kobe got injured dunking on Rasho Nesterovic in the first round and tore a labrum on his shooting shoulder which required offseason surgery. Not to mention the Lakers were going for their 4th straight finals.

http://articles.latimes.com/2003/jun/06/sports/sp-kobe6

In 2004 Kobe faced on of the best defensive teams of all-time and Karl Malone got injured mid-season, and was ruled out by the time they made it to the finals. Not to mention that Kobe played the entire season after an offseason of no conditioning (dealing with the sexual assault case) and the skinniest he's been since his rookie year. Still managed to rape Bruce Bowen and the Spurs in that 2004 backdoor sweep in the infamous "Colorado Game" where he came back from court the same day and dropped 42 on the Spurs.

In 2005 Kobe and his 2nd best player Odom missed a combined 34 games, which is murder in the West and with the worst supporting cast he's ever had (and worse than any supporting cast Duncan has EVER had in his career). His 3rd option was a third year Caron Butler who was not yet all-star level. Their top 3 players (Kobe, Odom, Butler) missed a combined 49 games to injury.

In 2006 they lost to a #1 seed who was considered a favorite even without Amare because they still had a prime Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw. They wouldn't even have been up 3-1 in the first place if it wasn't for Kobe.

Exactly. And guess what: the only time Kobe legitimately choked there was in 04 and 06. If Duncan choked in 12 and 13 for losing to better teams, why wouldn't the same apply to Kobe in '06?

Kobe was injured in 05, therefore no choke. But Duncan had plantar fasciitis in 06, and he still completely wrecked the Mavericks, and he had the highest PER of the postseason. Yet he was the one who choked?

When Derek Anderson went down the Spurs had no chance. They weren't favoured to win the series even with him, nor were they in 02. In 04 Duncan choked.

Are you suggesting that Kobe didn't choke in 04?
