I am beginning to feel that many people on this site a struggling under a boulder of stress and pain in their real lives. I am not only a burgeoning therapist, but I am even more importantly a person with good intentions. That is a very rare sight in this world.

So, anybody with issues that they would like to resolves, feel free to share here. I understand some of you may not want to out your business, so feel free to pm me and I will quote you here anonymously. Lets work together to make ISH, and the world, a better place.

Didn't you claim to be some loser living at home with no ambition who's done nothing with his life and is posting on ISH too much?

Ah, so you've moved out, went back to school, and started doing something with your life; good for you.

Not exactly. I never actually left school, I just hit a patch where I was unmotivated to do anything productive. I have kinda moved past it now though.

FH, you're too judgmental to be a therapist. :lol

Nah, I may not agree with certain things people do but when it comes down to it I try not to let that get in the way of my dealings with that person.

I'm at school doing a course that I actually enjoy doing, but have no interest in pursuing a career in anymore.

I barely go and am way behind in the work. I don't know whether it's a waste of time or not.

I don't know how to get motivated.

well i don't know how it is in australia, but in the US what you are doing is not only a waste of time, but also a huge waste of money.

I would suggest you look into why you dont want to pursue a career in your field. What has changed? We all go through changes as we grow, so it may just be that you have realised that this isnt the course for you.

However, a lot of young people (myself included) are just too lazy these days. Life is too cosy, so there is much less incentive to actually do things. You know how people procrastinate and then do a semesters worth of work in one night? Well that is because they are under no immediate threat, so their mind procrastinates until the danger becomes immediate, and suddenly burst into action.

You need a way of realising the urgency of your situation. You do not want to be the person who keeps hyped up for a course or project, gets bored, and starts something else. Its a perpetual cycle, and those people generally get nowhere in life.

Before you take any action, you need to know for sure if you have no interest in your course anymore, or if your problem is purely teenage procrastination.

Most you kids complaining about lacking ambition and not knowing what to do with your life are just too young.

For the most part, when you're 18-22 you're just an idiot. You don't know what's going on (you might not realize it but you don't), and you have no sense of urgency or self-sufficiency. That's just too early to decide the rest of your life and you should stop wasting your or your parents money until you get your shit together.

I suggest trying to become an adult first and I think you'd get your shit together real quick. Try to support yourself, and not bullshit half ass with your parents. I mean everything; get off your family plan, pay your car insurance, rent, utilities, etc. and then go wait tables or work retail and live that life a couple years.

I think you'll get pretty excited about a career and acquire some responsibility pretty fast.
