Does that vault him into the top 20 of all time?

No, Wade is barely at top 40 now, a ring will probably move him to top 30 but even this is not a guarantee.

if he wins another ring this year he'll surpass Kobe Bryant, who is ranked somewhere around 40 right now.

Lol. Name the players with 4 titles and a FMVP. It's a pretty exclusive list I assure you. You'd be hard pressed to find 20 guys with a better combination of resume and performance.

its not the rings, its the peformance shown in getting the ring. if wade breaks both his knees and is awarded a ring it doesnt do anything. if wade goes off for 35ppg on 55% (but is outdone by lebron somehow while doing that) then it pops him up several all time spots. realistically something in the middle happens

Did those players get to miss a ton of regular season games just to be rested and healthy for the payoffs?

Too me, that's a knock on Wade these last 3 regular seasons. He's missed 58 regular season games over that time due to injury, rest/can't play B2B games out of precaution etc...

When is it LeBron's turn to rest during the regular season and have Wade carry the team?

Well among these possible 4 titles, only 1 matters, or maybe 2 if you consider his 2012 performance was somewhat acceptable. Wade was done since 2012, and hes not quite relevant to the Heat's 2013 title(and 2014 if they beat the Spurs somehow).

top 15-20 if he has another finals mvp

lack of mvps hurts him

top 20-25 if he doesnt

He'd easily be top 20 all time.

Can we have one single discussion here without it turning into a comparison to Kobe Bryant?

This is almost every single thread.

If you want that to happen, then tell your fellow Laker stans to stop saying dumb things.

If a Laker fan says something dumb and hates on another player, then you make it easy to shoot back and hate on the Most Overrated Player of all Time - Kobe Bryant.

John Havlicek has 8 rings, 1 fmvp... and not even he usually dwells inside everyones top 20... hope that answers your question...

In that case why is Kobe even in the top 20?

8 rings 1 FMVP is pretty much same as 5 rings 2 FMVP

Depends on how he finishes up. He's averaging 19/4/3 right now. Not bad or anything but he's at that point where he's not going to knock guys off by being the 2nd best player on the current Miami team. Better than his playoffs last year up to this point tho.

Depends what he does in the finals. I don't like Kobe but winning in the fashion Wade is right now has zero affect on him. Did Wade even average 16 points last playoffs?

...what?

Both role players on the majority of their rings.

Both good enough to be more than just a "Robert Horry" role player, by winning at least 1 Finals MVP.

So yeah, pretty much the same.
