Dude will be looking to get a major payday this offseason, but will the Pacers have enough to keep him?

They'll have to be creative with their money to keep him.

It's quite the conundrum, on one hand he's their primary ballhandler and second best player, and they'd be much worse without him.

On the other hand, he single handedly ruined their chemistry and nearly tore the team apart. He and Hibbert loathe one another.

He has to. He is pretty much Larry Bird's son. Lance loves Larry and Donnie, and appreciates them believing in him.

I don't think he's going anywhere. I wish the Pacers could swap Hibbert for Noah though.

Only way they can keep him is if they dismantle their bench (which sucks pretty bad now) or trade Hibbert (who they stupidly signed to a max contract).

If they dont do either, he will command more money than they can give him.

The Pacers will have to offer a max level contract if they want to keep him.

They can afford that financially by renouncing Turner's rights and trading out Copeland, but then they have to round out the roster with minimum level contract guys.

If the Pacers renounce Turner, then he would be an ok option for the Hawks for additional wing help.

Lance could provide additional youth to Miami's perimeter.

He should take his talents to South Beach.

some team will offer him ridiculous money and Indy wont match. That team will regret throwing a lot of money at him.

Hes very immature but is talented. He can be a black hole though. He is really about numbers..he'll take many shots and hog a lot of rebs (he'll even battle his own teammates to the point where the ball will go out of bounds needlessly)

A max level deal will cure a lot of those maturity issues.
The Hawks need a consistent scorer at the wings in the worst way.
Plus we need someone with character, since Josh Smith is gone now.

Headcase, cancer in the locker room, too much of a headache for Larry to deal with in the future.

I say they let him walk.

A max deal? He isn't that good. I think he's going to have some off court issues in the future as well since he seems dumb as shit

If they do re-sign him, i hope for 1 of two things for the pacers. 1. vogel or whoever is coaching next season, actually develops some sort of pass oriented offense. The pacers offense is absolute shit. and lance playing his "game" doesnt help that at all. way too stagnant with no ball movement until the final seconds of the shot clock. 2. they sign a pass oriented pg - i like hill, but with they way their offense is constructed, they need a playmaker that isnt lance.

If a team offers him $10M per year, I doubt Indy will match it. I don't think he's worth that much anyway. His talent level certainly is, but his BBIQ drags down his overall effectiveness. I bet Indy would love to give him $30M/4 years (prior to ECF an EC exec stated that this would roughly be his market value), but I don't see him accepting such a low offer. Maybe they work something out, but they really need to sign a pass-first PG to run the offense and to bolster the bench. Tough decisions for Indy this summer.

yes yes and yes. If kendall marshall wasnt so uber bad on defense, hed be worth a look.

if anyone was on the fence about Indy's offense being decent or not, yesterdays game should have been eye opening to all. 4 plays in a row during the closing minutes: lance dribbles 1v1 against lebron with the occasional screen coming from west, but lance neither attacks nor passes out of it, until the final seconds of the shot clock where he kicks it to george for a bail out shot.

its horrendous to watch, and without a system or playmaking pg, theyre not going to get any further than their defense will take them.

Marshall could be an interesting, cheap option, didn't really consider him. Do you think he'd be effective sans a D'Antoni system though? I mentioned this in another thread, but I think G. Vasquez would be great for this squad.

EDIT: I agree on your points about the (lack of) offensive system and its current shortcomings. I do think upgrading at PG could fix this, as Lance could be a really good secondary ballhandler.

There are multiple teams who will be willing to pay Lance 10m a year and there will be that team that will go even higher just to get him. Look at the contracts players have, you can justify him making that money in today's league. I've always considered it a foregone conclusion that he was leaving Indy because they wouldn't be able to afford him. Larry can get to work on something to clear room to keep him but I don't see it happening. Lance has played this entire year with the #1 purpose of getting a big contract this summer.
