1) i've already built one based on an internet movement: combine a watercooler full of ice and ice water, copper tubing wrapped around the face of a box fan, and a water pump to move the ice water across the face of the fan. meh. grade: C-
2) in southern USA, lots of ppl apparently like to just put a block of dry ice in front of a fan. okay... works nice, but... CO poisoning-alert indoors? grade: C-huh? :confusedshrug:
3) a friend who goes to berkeley suggested a variation on #1, but run through an old car radiator-- all the little heat sink lattices supposedly radiate cool air like a mofo. tentative grade: B
4) and then there's this:

grade: NO F-ING IDEA
5) other? D for now because.
which sounds best?

Aren't window units like 100 bucks?
I don't think the others will satisfy.
#4 looks promising... Sadly I think he spent more on AC than his couch

hating lebron is a complicated process, bro!

i do have a portable air conditioner (works nice), but i can't stand recycled air for some reason. i like my windows free for my plants and stuff.
how much sense do you think #4 makes if you don't mind my asking?

ice+salt+Styrofoam cooler+boxfan. Simple, works in a pinch.
Relying on making ice to cool an area = more expensive and less efficient than using an electric air conditioning unit.

It seems promising, but you would have to paint it or something. I guess I just have an "adult" house and I wouldn't want to look at that thing.

You don't have ac at your house? And you live in the south? Damn bruh, I'd die. I remember earlier this year our ac broke and we had to live 2 weeks in florida without ac...brotha believe me when I say I could not be inside the house at all, it was hell. And when I remember trying to go to sleep those days...hor ri ble.

#4 is pretty effective. My bro made one and got the temp coming out down to around 50 degrees. I'm sure if you put a little more thought into it you could get it to blow even cooler.
I wanted to try it out myself this summer.

right, we just need a couple of those big drill attachments. still very low cost.

My bro just used one of those all foam ice coolers and cut the vents holes by hand. Including a $14 fan I think he spent a total of $18 making it.
The hole saw and arbor dude used in the video alone were more expensive than all the materials used for the project
I actually made 1 out of one of those $3 foam coolers. Just holes in the cooler, $8 fan, and ice. It works in my bedroom, but can't notice much difference in my living room because of the size of the room.
