Lebron has at least 3 more dominant years in him, and 2-3 more as top 5 player...
Hard to see anyone moving him from number one spot.

I say Lebron is still #1 next season, Durant takes over for the next 2-3 years, then Davis takes over in that 5th year when he's 25-26.

My blind homerism says either DeMar DeRozan or Jonas Valanciunas.
But it will probably be either Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant.

Well, over the next 5 years, LeBron will go from 29-34. No reason to think he won't remain the best for the majority of that time.

Something about Davis being the best player just doesn't feel right.
The best big maybe.
It would still be
1-LeBron
2-KD
3-Davis
4-Westbrook
5-Griffin

Most likely LeBron and Durant will keep battling it out, with Durant either clearly separating himself towards the end or failing to take the throne.
Don't be surprised if Westbrook leaves OKC and makes a name for himself as a lead superstar, either, though probably not enough to be the best in the league. Griffin could have a nice stretch from 2016 to 2019 but his ceiling is lower than LeBron and Durant's, and that period will coincide with both playing fairly close to theirs.
Anthony Davis could be entering his early peak at around the end of this period, and has the highest ceiling among active players not named LeBron or Durant, but probably won't already be better than a mature, 30 year old KD. Embiid will be 25, which is usually a bit young still for a center. Other promising 2014 draftees will also normally be too young to challenge the best in the league. Besides this is all very speculative, they could bust out, get injured etc.
Interesting to see what people thought in 2009... most would've seen coming that LeBron would still be the best, but I wonder how many predicted Durant's rise to this level.

Favorite - Durant
Popular pick - Davis
Roughies that still have lots of room to develop - Curry / Wall / Harden
5 years is a long time in basketball... Anything could happen... 5 years ago who thought Love would be anything more than a borderline serviceable role player....

At 34 LeBron will not be the best player in the league. Still top 5 for sure. My money is on Embiid if his back checks out, if it doesn't Durant.

you cant be the best player playing with two HOF and All-stars and stacked team in a weak EC. such type of a player can be at best numero dos.

Title is confusing dose it mean in 5 years or over the next 5 seasons ? If it is over the next 5 seasons the answer is Lebron for at least a few of those if it is 5 years from now could be anyone.

But Lebron wasn't the best player this season, and he's getting older.
