I live in Adelaide, so I certainly can't judge too harshly. I'm not dissing Melbourne at all (though they do have an inflated opinion of themselves compared to the rest of Oz), I like the place, but people acting like he's spent his entire life in LA and now has to move to SLC.

ahh the typical "Utah sucks" posts from people that have never spent any real time there. If you like actually getting outside and doing stuff, honestly SLC is one of the greatest cities in the world. If all you do is go out to eat and go clubbing, your options are a bit limited. I live in PHX now and while I have grown to appreciate it, I would take SLC over it any day.
