but why? he was a non factor. Its like being happy for the special kid when they rounded the bases in kickball, after the other team let the kid score. (actual memory from my elementary school).

I never said it was evil, I am sure their intentions are pure. Its still patronizing.

They gave the trophy to Norris Cole in 2012 when he was the new guy on the team. It's not like this is something totally new.

Maybe you're just cynical because it's the Heat? If the Mavs made it to the Finals and handed the trophy to Vince Carter (a guy who has been through a lot of ups and downs in his own right) would it be such a horrible thing?

It's just a recent tradition. Arison handed the trophy to Cole his rookie season and last year they gave it to Bird.

I noticed this as well. None of these guys really get in trouble anymore. Can you imagine any of these players getting arrested or fighting? Not really.

Cant remember if it was hockey or not, but most players do not want to touch the Conference finals Trophy as it brings bad luck or something... could be the case.

I think it was something like, you touch the trophy...its all that you are going to win.
