Bran is just short form. I use short form sometimes for my favourite player Kobe too and call him "Kob" instead. Same idea with "Bran" in place of LeBron.

When the short form of a name is used, it's usually spelled a bit differently, for example Jonathan becomes John, and an "h" is thrown in there. When the short form for Michael is used, only the first two letters stay the same. What's wrong with throwing an "a" into the short form of LeBron's name?
