He put you guys into overtime.

He was your best player this playoffs.

He stepped up instead of shrunk during the clutch (minus the over the backboard heave, lol).

He takes your big shots and has the ball during big plays because he can create his shot better and is more alpha than Durant.

Yes, he is more alpha than Durant, if he wasn't Durant would have called him out or demanded the ball more adamantly, instead he just cried at his presser and professed love (that was a nice moment, but it wasn't what the team needed, the team needed tough love, not another kumbaya moment about how sweet and ncie they all are.).

Being an Alpha, a true Alpha, means being a dick and being disliked, also you need balls, and Westbrook has more balls than pool halls.

Westbrook is not the problem, the team is the problem, they are missing pieces.

Don't think so? How come Derek Fisher and his old ass HGH body is playing all the big minutes?

Being an alpha means you're competent at what you're supposed to do.

This is true but you also need IQ to win titles. Westbrooks strength is also his weakness and he doesnt know how to harness it. Hes very instinctive as a scorer but he has absolutely no pure playmaking instincts or concept of tempo, strategy, and the finer points of point guarding.

Hes like Kobe and Carmelo, he needs a strong minded pg like a Fisher, Billups, or Kidd to have the ball in his hands at the end of the game and only put it in Westbrooks when its appropriate. Westbrook is a shooting guard. Theyre not gonna win anything with him at point.

Westbook has shot 1 of 21 (ONE OF TWENTY-ONE!) in overtime quarters this playoffs. He shot 8 of 23 tonight. He is a highlight factory, but still a chucker to the core. Also averaged nearly 5 turnovers per game this playoffs.

He puts up big numbers and great highlights, but you have to deal with a lot of crap to get to the good stuff with him.

You wouldn't have sniffed overtime had he not got that steal or scored those drivng layups in crunch time while the rest of the Thunder had their cameras out and were standing and watching.

What about the 3 turnovers on HORRIBLE passes in the middle of the key and countless hucks?

All of this, just because a guy makes one big play, people dismiss everything else. I still think Westbrook is essentially a more athletic version of Stephon Marbury. Big numbers and great highlights, but ultimately an inefficient chucker who can't win and doesn't understand the finer points of basketball. That's why he averaged about 22 & 8 with the Nets and didn't win anything while Jason Kidd took the same team to the Finals while averaging a comparatively less impressive 16 & 9.

There's so much more to basketball than the obvious.

You're comparing Westbrook to Marbury proves how stupid and moronic you are.

Russell Westbrook puts winning first over anything else. Show me the last time Marbury played defense like he ever has at the end of a game. Show me something. He can't win? Oh, I guess it was a big choke for OKC to lose to the favorite Spurs or the Miami Heat.

How about you get a clue :lol

It's pretty funny.

OKC loses to the 62 win and favorited Spurs being w/o Ibaka for 2 games and people act like they just lost to the Bobcats or some shit.

They are historically following the path that many contenders follow. Doesn't mean they will become a multi-championship winning team but it doesn't mean this loss signals the end of the world either.

KD in that postgame presser honestly just looked like he wanted to get some rest. He needs it.

Plus, 2 years from now, what other team in the league is going to beat OKC? The Spurs will be done and the Heat likely will too. These guys have plenty of time to contend.

It's a decent comparison.

Westbrooks defense is good. No doubt about it. Everything he does on offense good, gets balanced out with bad.

His offense is similar to marburys. Defense, yes not even close. Westbrook > marbury

Marburys iq is way > chuck brook.

It just amazes me sometimes how dumb Westbrook plays. No clue.

I'm not saying they are exactly the same player, but they have similar tendencies and faults that ultimately impede their potential. I think Westbrook is the better player, but it's almost by virtue of his sheer athleticism.

True, they were bad plays, but these are step up situations that shine a strong light of blame on Durant and Scott Brooks.

1-All the great perimeter players either walk the ball up or get the ball handed to them at half court during late critical possessions. OKC didn't get the ball in Durants hands in this type of scenario until it was too late and he fell on his ass. More importantly Durant didn't demand the ball. Maybe he did demand it, but he never got it, so what does that tell you?

2-What kind of offense are they running. 4 guys standing around watching Westbrook, no p&r, no off ball movement of note, just a bunch of spectators in white.

OKC has a lot of serious flaws, and Durant is the second best player in the world, but Westbrook has been keeping them afloat.

My criticisms of Westbrook aside, they BADLY need a new coach in OKC. My god.

I like Westbrook and Durant a lot, but I have also played the game and know that when push comes to shove someone steps up. Durant should have been the one, and he was ultimately in control of his destiny. LeBron took so much 'heat' for letting Wade be the alpha dog in year one at Miami, I think Durant needs to take heat for this year, not Westbrook. It will help Durant longterm.

Yeah, Scott Brooks is HOT TRASH as a coach. I would like to see Mark Jackson there, he can work multiple scorers into the boxscore and he will help them get stops.

Hmm.

I'd agree BUT it's kinda hard to step up when your point guard, with a basketball iq of a high school jv back up , is hucking shots and turning the ball over.

Bron bron didn't have to deal with that.

LOL alphas are likable assholes ala jordan or cp3..These guys are assholes off the court but unselfish on the court. They go for winning first, stats 2nd. Whereas dumbbrook takes glory first over winning. OKC started losing since he came back yet he still plays the same. Marbury, iverson were considered cancers yet he still play the same as them.
