Title.

Clippers, Warriors, Rockets, Blazers, and Suns all seem to have really bright 5 year windows right now.

And wherever Lebron is as well.

If Bosh/Wade really are willing to opt out and take less...the heat could re tool and be even better over the next 4 years than they were the last 4.

I can't wait to see how this plays out for them.

Weren't we asking this question 2 years ago...when their roster was arguably better?

As mavs says all those teams can beat them going forward. Clippers, Blazers, rockets, Suns and a bunch of other like GS, Dallas if they retool will be threats. Just because they are young doesn’t mean it decides the future.

Bosh and Wade will take paycuts and Miami will be able to retool an keep at the top of their game with Wade playing only 50 odd games a season and Bosh playing bruise-free basketball 30 mins a game.

They'll be able to pick up a nice piece with the extra salary, and vets will still continue to come for the chance to win a ring. I don't see anyone beating this Miami team in the East finals for the next 5 years or so, given these things occur.

Eh, I can only see the Clippers and maybe the Warriors beating OKC in the future. Depends on Kerr and player development for the latter. Clippers is more about continuity, development of Jordan, and for CP3 to stop being a choking piece of shit. Also not convinced that the Redick/Barnes(Dudley) wing situation is ideal.

Suns are going to need another piece (imo), and it's the most difficult one to find: a star player. I don't see him on that roster and I don't see them being talented enough to compete without him. Even if I project eventual development with Dragic and Bledsoe.

Blazers are a good deal away. Perhaps I underrate Lillard and Aldridge... I don't see him on their roster either. They have heck of a foundation, but I can't see them competing more than, say, how the Pacers are "competing" right now. Which they aren't.

Rockets have some of the key pieces and could potentially be in better shape than every team mavs listed, except maybe the Clippers. Alas, I don't think a Harden-led team that jacks up 3pters all game can ever truly compete.

Obviously the draft and free agency can change all of that. As is, tho, Clippers and maybe the Warriors, along with OKC, are the only potential contenders in a few years right now.

THE CURSE OF THE SONICS will stop them.

Portland is 1 or 2 dependable players off the bench from being a legitimate contender. Dependable meaning someone on the level of Deng, Iggy, or Afflalo. Whether they're pure scorers, playmakers, or a mix of both, they need some fire off the bench. Mo Williams, Dorell Wright, CJ McCollum, Thomas Robinson, etc is just not enough. I think Afflalo off their bench would put them at the next level.

yes, but do you really see any of those teams beating a prime KD/Russ/Ibaka w/ a prime Reggie/Lamb/Adams/PJ3 + vets (cap space ceiling is increasing) as support?
Who knows, it depends how these younger teams develop.

Clippers were damn close to beating OKC this year, game 5 could of gone the other way and Clips could of won the series. Adding a piece here and there can be the difference. Depends how guys develop and improve.

Portland have a nice future and are the same need to beef up the bench and they will be a player going forward. Lillard is a stud and is only 22/23. LA is still only 28/29. Are OKC in the best shape? Yeah as they have two stars and have guys who can develop.
