Typically, the best player on the team usually leads the team in PER and WS, and some cases such as Lebron and MJ, they lead their team in both PER and WS by a wide margin. These are clearly the best players on their teams.

2014 playoffs:
Lebron James: 31.1 PER, 0.296 winshare/48
Wade: 21.0 PER, 0.147 winshare/48

Sometimes the "supposed" best player on the team is not the actual clear cut best player on the team. Examples include Lakers 2010 playoff run, where Kobe only leads Pau Gasol in PER by 0.7, and where Pau Gasol actually has more winshare than kobe:

2010 playoffs:
Kobe: 24.7 PER, 0.190 winshare/48
Gasol: 24.0 PER, 0.224 winshare/48

But this season, Durant has made history by being the only MVP to have a teammate clearly out-perform him in the playoffs. Westbrook leads Durant in both PER and winshare.

2014 playoffs:
Durant: 23.0 PER, 0.154 winshare/48
GAWDbrook: 24.9 PER, 0.167 winshare/48

Durant, worst MVP in history, not even the best player on his team.

Memphis i can understand to an extend (still played like dogshit) but clippers and spurs? They aren't even good defensive teams! No excuse, Lebron would still be around 30 PER if he versed the same teams.

To be fair, Westbrook is a top 5 player in this league. It's not exactly impossible for him to outplay Durant, especially the way Westbrook plays and can freeze out players.

That being said, as a fan of Durant, he's let me down these playoffs. Even in the games his numbers were good, for the most part, he never seemed that impressive to the eye. He never took the game by the balls and took it over like he did time and again in the regular season.

A real shame. Hopefully the FO can re-tool the team to come back better next year.

Durant: 30 PPG, 9 REBs 4 AST on 46% FG (after carrying the Thunder in the stacked West while Injuryplaguedbrook missed nearly half the season)

Westbrook: 27, 8, 8 on 42% FG (while missing more regular season games than D-Wade)

I'll admit Durant is BETA as f*ck, but he still played about as good or better than Westbrook after carrying the load the whole season.

actually that statement is incorrect

- in 2007 dirk nowizki was outplayed by josh howard
- in 2006 steve nash was outplayed by shawn marion
- in 1996 michael jordan was outplayed by scottie pippen

and this is just for the past 25 years

Nah uh.. according to defensive RAPM Kevin Durant has been one of the best perimeter defenders in the league every year since 2010 while Russel chuckbrook has been in the negative.. aka a detriment.

Durant 1.8
Westbrick -.4

Durant 1.0
Westbrick -.8

Durant 1.1
Westbrick -.9

Durant 2.3
Westbrick .1

It's clear from this research that durants defense >>>

Does this account for the playoffs? Or compensate for the fact that they put Durant on the other team's worst player and let Sefolosha do the dirty work?

Doesnt matter bruh.. just stare at the numbers and absorb them. KD is one of the greatest perimeter defenders in the league and possibly all time for perimeter player.

Not one Durant or Kobe Stan in here.

This is exactly what I was saying with Kobe. Kobe can't take over a game on both ends like MJ or Lebron. Just look at that PER and win shares with Gasol.

Exposed.

And with Durant .. What a joke

OP don't do em like that
