Apples and Oranges... Comparison

The expression "That's like comparing apples and oranges" when comparing 2 things that are nothing alike makes no sense. Apples and Oranges are very comparable. Both grow on trees. Both are sweet fruits. Both are grown in high quantities in west coast states. Both similar sizes. (btw I give the win to apples for ease of consumption) There should be an expression that more adequately illustrates that the 2 things being compared are dissimilar.

I prefer oranges. Yes, you can grab an apple and just eat it, but I hate the peel jamming between my teeth and stabbing my gums. I'd rather not eat it if it is given to me in whole form. Peeling or cutting an orange is easier than cutting an apple due to dealing with the apple seeds. That said, apple slices and peanut butter is the shit.
