These players are rich beyond anyone's wildest dreams.
I give no respect to anyone on the Heat's team (Esp. the Big 3) for taking less money in order to go for a championship. It's not like any of these players are on a pay check to pay check.

well that's great for you...however, players who seek the most earnings, hampering the teams chances for suitable role fillers, will see the playoffs just as you and me...on TV

They're not paycheck-to-paycheck, but they are sacrificing a substantial amount of what they could be earning to help the organization acquire better players to help reach the common goal of winning a title. You don't need to respect it, but it's nice to see that others are willing to sacrifice for the good of the group.
This is Kobe. :kobe:

We all could live with a less than $1000 salary. No need to respect anyone who gives/gives up money to support a cause.

When the Lord wishes you to sacrifice, he need not ask for your consent.

So how do you feel about Tim Duncan doing the same thing?

You have two options:
1. A player who takes the max to f*ck their team from ever winning a championship, let alone make the playoffs.
2. A player who takes less money (literally forgoing millions) to make a title run.
Given those two options, it's hard NOT to respect numero uno.

I respect that they want to win, the issue I have is that the media go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how the heat did this but never mention all the others players who've done the exact same thing to help their original clubs out.

"help" the organization? the organization is supposed to know how to build a team and at the end of the day, they control how much money they pay their players.
If you get thrown a guaranteed 48,500,000 deal on your lap after suffering a career-ending injury, are you not going to take it? Kobe said he trusts the FO to put together a contending team. I'm not going to hate on Kobe for getting his money, he's earned it for all the great years he's given this franchise, and they've made more than they're ever going to pay Kobe.
Without Kobe, Lakers don't get that 4 billion dollar TV deal.

So bran, Wade, Bosh, Melo, CP3, Griffin, Anthony Davis, John Wall, and five other guys should all take the vet minimum to play together right? We should respect them for that.
In fact, rookies should all just ask for the rookie minimum, non-guaranteed. Right? Or else they don't want to win.

The taking less money thing was just damage control.
Meant absolutely nothing to basketball lifers.
