I honestly don't see what's so wrong with it. Kid's a bit awkward, but he beat his apparent shyness and went for it. It takes balls to do something like that at that age, considering how self-conscious we usually are. Probably still not gonna get the girl, but at least he tried.

Highlights for me...
Kid asking the panel if they have autism and, if so, how it helps them 'mod' (whatever the hell that means).
Kid asking how much "wham" he needs on his computer to run the latest "mods."
Maybe someone can enlighten me as to what the hell these people are talking about with their "mods." Regardless, this video is a must-click for lovers of awkward events.

I just don't understand why the chocolate company or whoever the fukk filmed this abomination allowed it to happen... something seems morally wrong about subjecting some random girl to a painfully awkward kid in front of her friends for advertising profit, it's like psychological abuse

B. Kid has guts, but that girl is way out of his league... and I say that as non-creepily as possible.

There are a combination of factors at work, here... 13-year-olds are awkward by nature, just walking down the street.
You're adding to an already awkward situation (1) hip hop dancing, (2) a somewhat nerdy look, (3) a fedora and (4) kid shooting way out of his league in a very public fashion.
Now, having said all that, it actually sounds like it would be worse than what it turned out to be... but, the awkward meter was still pinging a bit.

That's what I thought initially, but it sounds like these guys all make different, unique "mods," whereas I would assume any modifications to a video game would be done by the company and would blanket across everyone's game.
There is clearly something different going on, here, with these dudes and their "mods" in Minecraft.
One thing is for sure... this convention will make you want to stop playing video games. Forever.

I am game dev, I don't have time to watch an 8 min vid, but a game "mod" is pretty much making a new game out of an already existing game, sometimes the game devs release the tools needed for others to "mod" their game.
"Counter-Strike" (one of the most popular "mods" ever) came from Half-Life
"Day of Defeat" is also a Half-Life "mod"
I am assuming the video is full of awkward nerdy types? yes the game industry is full of that, those would be the programmers. The industry is also full of artists (what I am) who are not typically nerdy though. The game industry is basically a huge group socially awkward math genius types (programmers) mixed with socially sound but not-so-book-smart types (artists) and then some managers to tell the two groups what to do.

OK... I sort of understand the situation now. But still, it seems like Minecraft has something weird going on. Like, these kids are talking about "watching" mods, like you would a movie? Does that make any sense to you?
And, you really have to watch the video to understand the awkwardness. It's mostly kids in the audience, but the interactions between the kids and panel -- which is made up of these mod designers -- is just the most awkward thing ever caught on camera. I refuse to believe you don't have a spare 8 minutes. :oldlol:
Hey, I grew up on video games and will still play occasionally today (though I can't remember the last time I actually did). I understand some of the basics about the gaming world... but this video is just on a level that's hard to fathom. It's like they're speaking a completely different language.

Yeah, a couple of the kids did look like they had some kind of disabilities going on. My thing wasn't so much laughing at them, but the interactions between them and the people on the panel... the long pauses as the panel tried to decipher how to answer the bizarre questions. And, some of the answers by the panel were bizarre.
Just a surreal scene. I know nothing about Minecraft, but this was such an odd event, I'm now curious. Need to know more.

I can respect the effort I guess, but damn, I couldn't watch that shit.
What is it with high school, and always having that one kid in your grade who has to have the fedora hat?
Kid has a good attitude I guess, but he just doesn't seem to understand social protocol or how to behave in a social setting. Plus some kids are awkward as hell, and he fits the mold.
Shit was too much for me to watch until the end.

Totally agree, personally I don't see what was cringe worthy of the video.
He got two hugs and a thumbs up more than a lot of virgins on here ever got. Gave the kid some props because at his age I wasn't that confident in myself in making it known I even had a crush on a girl.
Obviously it was cringe worthy but it took balls. Later that day she got pounded by her black boyfriend and that kid probably pulls an Elliot Rodger.

One of the kids may have had severe autism (girl with her dad's card) that someone just watching the thing could pin-point without investigating further. There may have been one or two others with a touch of Aspergers... but, for the most part, they're just awkward kids and awkward adults.
