The Beatles are the highest selling artists of all time. They have the most number 1 singles of all time. Michael Jackson as a solo artist is not far behind, but The Jackson Five as a group don't even come close. It really depends on accessibility. Is the average citizen of India or China or Indonesia more likely to learn about Hitler and Einstein or hear Michael Jackson on the radio?

I think in the west they are probably all commonly known. I doubt you would find many people who would have heard of Michael Jackson and not Hitler or vice versa.
