View Full Version : The Miami Heat represent what's right with the NBA

Despite the legions of irrational frothing at the mouth haters, the Miami Heat do things the right way. They came together as friends, they put winning over money, they are a clean bunch with no criminal records, they play the game with a Spurs like team basketball mentality. They even sacrificed some of their game and adapted to the team's needs. Miami even had to overcome a ref rig job to win the 2013 NBA finals unlike some of the other champs like the Lakers that were heavily ref aided titles.
The main reason so many people hate Miami is because they were brainwashed by the media into hating Lebron (and thus Miami).
The intense hatred many fans have for Miami is what's wrong with the NBA.

The media does not treat him as Jesus. Since the decision they have portrayed him as the villain many times. The complements they give Lebron are just reality, like when they call him one of the best ever and the best player today. The NBA has even rigged NBA finals against Lebron. Many of the NBA commentators openly hate Miami and don't try to even hide it.
Hate sells. Miami is not a big enough market to win over many based on love like playing in NYC would do by creating a massive Lebron bandwagon, so naturally they went for the hate marketing and it worked. Everyone watches the Miami Heat...with a lot of the viewers wanting Miami to fail.
If Lebron played for LA or NYC then you would see the media get obsessed with Lebron as the hero, not villain.

everything OP said is true, can't really dispute it
-heat overcame refs to win a ring...do the lakers hold the record for least FTA in a finals?
-no one on the heat is a rapist
-not a great make up of a team, just a bunch of talent thrown together but they made it work with some sacrifices
-is lebron not on the path/pace to be comparable to MJ as possibly the best or 2nd best all time? whether he keeps it up or not is another discussion

Were you alive in 2011? :biggums: The hate he got by ESPN was unreal. Every time he would miss a big shot in the 4th quarter SportsCenter would spend at least 15 minutes showing the miss over and over again, talking about how unclutch he was. Fact of the matter is nobody in the media gave Lebron any respect until after he got his first ring. Meanwhile Durant is choking in the playoffs year after year, yet no one DARES say a word about it, instead blaming his failures on Westbrook. :facepalm

The Yankees of the NBA? Did you start watching basketball in 2010? You don't remember the 15 win season? :facepalm
Yankees have DECADES of being the go-to bandwagon. The Heat only suddenly became the bandwagon team/hated team in 2010.

Heat also showed everyone that we shouldnt be afraid of revolution. We shouldnt afraid of breaking the old useless rules. We should make our own future. If we are suffering, we should man up, take action and change things. Lebron, Bosh were suffering in their situation. They got unlucky and were stuck in shitty franchises. They man up and took their destiny in their own hands.
Such an inspiring story.

Yeah, it's not like the instant they teamed up ESPN created a whole section on their NBA site called the "Heat Index" tracking their record against the 72-10 Bulls. The media must HATE them!

I agree with this part, but not the rest. People dislike LeBron because he's the best player, how he left Cleveland, and Miami is the top team. Everyone hates the top team. The hatred for Miami is what brings the ratings. People tune in to either see them win or see them lose. People hating is actually good for the NBA, but it does get annoying.
