Have the best shotblocking rate of all time by far.

How impactful was his presence though?

His career average is 3 ppg/4 rpg on 19 minutes per game. His career FG% was pretty bad. Only 40%

Manute Bol wasn't a good scorer or rebounder as you can see. He was, however, an amazing shot blocker. 3.3 bpg for his career. Thats pretty damn good if you ask me.

He was good at standing there, swinging his arms in the air.

Only cost Philly about $1.5 million every year they had him too.

he didn't even jump to register half of his blocks. He wasn't even starter as well, so that should give you an idea how good he was.

He shot a bunch of threes which explains his low FG% (but yeah it's not like he was an offensive juggernaut in the paint or anything). When he got hot it was one of the most glorious things to see as a NBA fan.

Like many former NBA players from the 90s, manute has a son who will graduate high school in 2018. He already played in elite camps out there.

Yea he could hit. I wonder if in this era he would have been better than he was because of the way they call contact. He could still get blocks without fouling and stretch the floor.

edit: also if we're posting manute videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-LTyDiCu0A

i don't care that he makes 6 threes, but if your that damn tall with the worst form on your shot, I'd bench his ass for shooting 3s.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've seen on a basketball court in a while :oldlol:

He didn't even play much and was an offensive liability, plus could be a mismatch against some big and physical centers, and he wasn't that great on the boards... He was freakishly tall though, 7'7 with really long arms, that and some nice instincts made him perhaps the greatest shot-blocker of all-time. Still give me someone like Mark Eaton (also extremely tall) over him, as he was close behind as a shot-blocker, considerably better overall defensively and easily more impactful defense, better rebounder and better on offense, could play many more minutes too, and was much stronger/heavier.

I remember seeing Manute boxing on this celebrity boxing show in the late 90's/early 2000's... anyone remember?

RIP Manute

His son, "Bol Bol"

He has some skill, but he looks really soft, rail thin, and doesn't play with aggression.

Of course, so lots of potential there. He just seems too light on his feet if that's a thing. A lot like his dad.

Manute was a very excellent rim protector obviously due to his height. He was very slow, poor footworks, and very light , which is why he cannot post up and only shot 3s. He can't score and can't rebound. Was he any good? No.

One of his nephews won a high school state championship as a starting center I think. He was only like 6'7" and not that good... Pretty sure I went to the same college with him and saw his car once, license plate said BOL.

Manute had issues with arthritis and just wasn't strong enough or built for basketball. His shot blocking did help out the defense a lot when he'd check in though.

He was just a shot blocker..that's all plain and simple.
