He directed his distaste for his experience in the league as well as the ownership at Cavaliers out in front of the whole world.

And while he can argue that if you don't like it, just don't watch it.

I understand that people are offended by it.

I don't think the title should read
"If you don't like Lebron you're probably a white guy"

it should read
"If you don't like Lebron, you probably don't know what it takes to make it in America"

which you know, isn't just some show on HBO, nor a reality TV show.

Yes, I get it, most people in America who has made it has been predominantly white because of its history.

But you know

If you feel like I'm directing my distaste for the reality that many people are simply just weak and think that I have an elitist attitude.

If you don't like it, you don't have to read it.

Most of my uncles and cousins can't stand LBJ and I'm pretty sure they're black.

Many of my sports fan friends can't stand LBJ and I'm pretty sure they're black too.

I do agree with the general principle that white people respond differently to black people asserting themselves but it's also very possible in this instance that they think what LBJ did violated unwritten sports code. You stick with your team and if you leave them, you certainly don't team up with another superstar and a perennial all-star and do so on TV.

All that said,

Heat in 6!

"If white people..."

Yet here it is, an article completely separating white people and analyzing their likes and dislikes, and shockingly, nobody cares.

You dont see any white people boycotting, no white people angered or up in arms...

Because white people have more important things to worry about, like jobs, and bills, and children. If this article was about blacks instead of whites, there would be uproar! Imagine if Jay Z said he didnt want white people at BKLYN games. Would anybody care? Would any whites be offended? I wouldnt, my life wouldnt change one bit.

And so we see, the double standard is alive and well.

He was drafted by the Cavs, who also happened to be his hometown. Had it not be his hometown, it would be a different story. People would actually realize that hey, he got drafted into a franchise he devoted 7 years to and decided to leave.

What you are talking about maybe applies to college sports, but not in the professional league.

Colleges are probably also more accomadating to their players than professional sports. Plus, I don't think college players are really ever truly under the pressue of win a banner or bust, besides that of the fab five maybe, which some may argue they asked for that attention themselves, same way the Heat did.

it's a fact that mostly white dudes hate on lebron. I see it all the time.

It's somewhat true though.
They call college team ball, blue collar,REAL BALL and the NBA which is predominantly black thug ball.

You'd think the people who love college type ball--horrible shot selection,no sense of cohesiveness, chuckers would love DET,Mil,Hou,NYK
or the Team Ball aspect, teamwork,Playing within a team,Fundamentals-----
there would be a lot of Spurs,Heat fans but the Spurs are basically nonexistent in big popularity and are a ratings downer while the Heat is big bc of Big 3,and Winning

If you really think about it,The Spurs should be one of the most popular teams.
They embody teamwork and unselfishness but they're not.

ESPN is somewhat right.

But to add to it
If you don't like LeBron you're most likely easily manipulated by the media's feelings towards a player or team,a Cavaliers Fan,a Lakers Fan,A Kobe Stan,A Celtics Fan,A Pierce/KG Fan,A Bulls Fan,An Insecure Jordan Stan,AN OKC Fan,A NYK Fan,A Mavs Fan,A Spurs Fan,A Pacers Fan.

Most of the Hate came from the decision and IT CLEARlY WAsN'T bc he Left Cle or Joined Miami or Joined with other stars.
It was Bc He Didn't Choose YOUR Team or the one you wouldn't mind.It wad bc Miami is Successful and your team is not bc of him.

The media kept hyping LJ to NY,LA,Chi,Dal but never Miami.
They hyped him joining up with the all stars there but he didnt go there.
The hate came bc he went somewhere where nobody expected or wanted and started winning there.

And well the Media as a whole is a predominantly LA,NY,Chi,Bos bias and
they feel like he spurned them and betrayed them by not going there.
It's the Reason Dwight is HATED bc the media is mostly Laker Nation.

LJ keeps beating the media and majority favs(NYK,Chi,Bos) and is better than LA so the Heat hate Increases.

These same fans hating on LJ that aren't Cle fans
WANTED LeBron on their Team with other all stars but bc he didnt go there he's all of a sudden a cheat, coward, easy way out, quitter and every other name people can bring up on him and the Heat.

Only black people can even think like this. The thing that most minorities simply can't relate to is that to the majority (whites) these sorts of things are not very relevant to their lives.

Most white people spend about as much time thinking about race as capable people spend thinking about wheelchair ramps or as much as normal people think about trans people. The majority is vastly more relevant to the minority than the minority is to the majority.

White people don't spend as much time thinking about black people as you think.

Now I know sports fans in general aren't typically rational with their thoughts, but can someone who is avid hater of LeBron tell me what exactly is their reason to hate him for?

Like, unless you're a Cleveland Cavalier fan, what are your reasons for hating LeBron?

Now, I can understand kind of disliking of how he approached his 2010 free agency. Kind of .....He definitely attention whore'd that process, and milked it for all it was worth. From the flirtation with New York during his last couple years in Cleveland, and that 60 minute interview, and then of course everything leading up to "The Decision", which ultimately led him to Miami.

I know a lot of the Jordan fanatics, who despise that comparison in particular and what not, but that's strictly the media's doing. Can't fault him for that.

And in terms of his play, he plays as unselfish of a brand of basketball as you can ask for someone with his talent level(some argue that he's TOO unselfish at times), and looks to do whatever he can to maximize his teammates on the court.

He takes all criticism on the chin, and has NEVER publically thrown a coach or teammate under the Bus. Never. And there was certainly opportunity to do so in certain instances.

And from a personable standpoint, by all accounts, he appears to be a good guy on the surface. His teammates rave about him constantly. He's also as transparent of athlete that we have today, and isn't afraid to attach his name to certain social issues.

So what exactly is it? Is it the perceived arrogance? The oversaturation in media coverage (not really his fault)? :confusedshrug:

I just don't get it.

Eh, says more about the enigmatic Michael Jordan – who was wildly popular amongst both whites and blacks – than it does about Lebron, imo. Using Jordan as the standard, essentially, isn't fair to either the rest of the players in the NBA or those taking part in the polls. Nobody is going to catch Jordan, and there's a multitude of factors in play. "The decision" probably came across to society as tacky and narcissistic... reasonably so, imo.

Black Americans = Most bandwagon people in general. Quick to come, quick to go... more short sighted and less likely to stick it out in the long run. That's a mentality representative of a culture though not a skin color. Most of these people who represent the numbers are younger also and that's a mentality of a younger person... which is most of the NBA's audience.

Just my observations.
