hes averaging 16ppg in the playoffs.. anyone can win finals mvp on this team
its not like hes carrying the team.
wouldnt do much for his legacy. maybe go from top 8-9 to 6-7

Depends on his level of play. FMVP in a vacuum doesn't mean anything (same with all other awards).

what kobe did in 2001 is 10 times more impressive than anything duncans doing this playoffs
so who gives a sh*t.. like fpliii said. its not about awards. its about what you do for titles

It'd be impressive, yes.
But considering that he could reasonably win FMVP averaging something like 15/8, forget about GOAT status.

And what Duncan did in 2003 is 10 times more impressive than anything Kobe has done in his career.

Why are you brining up a player who in 2001 lost regular season MVP to a 165lb 6'1 guy?

Shaq and Duncan lost the MVP to that same 165lbs guy. :facepalm

No, it isn't. Ken is far closer to being on point than you are.

2001 - 30/7/6 playoffs, 15-1 all time record, ( smashing his n*ts in duncans face averaging 35 a game ) beating 4 teams with 50+ wins
2009 - 30/5/5 playoffs, 33/6/7 finals, dragged sasha, farmar and gasol to a title with bynum on the bench
2010 - 30/5/6 playoffs, 29/8/4 finals, beating 4 teams with 50+ wins
all better than anything duncans ever done

No one is talking about 2001 Shaq or 2001 Duncan. Good effort though.
kennethgriffin said that what kobe did in 2001 is 10 times more impressive than anything Duncan's doing this playoffs. Congrats....Kobe who lost MVP to AI is more impressive than a 38 year old Duncan.
Duncan is the overall career better player than Kobe, and he doesn't even need another ring to prove it. The 5th ring would just be icing on the cake.
Kobe has won 2 finals as the man
Duncan has won 4 as the man
It's not even close.

The point you were trying to make was idiotic--Iverson also beat peak Duncan for the MVP. You know Duncan, the topic of this thread?
Ken's point is spot on--2001 Kobe's run was more impressive than a lot of "lead dog" title runs, including a couple from Duncan (2005, 2007).

Duncan's longevity is rather incredible, but does that make him the GOAT? Kareem had an even better longevity, and still isn't widely considered the GOAT.
