That "****ing incredible Spurs team" is the aged/geriatric version of the 2000s-era Spurs which was just "another team" that Kobe/Lakers had to go through just to get to the Finals. It just speaks to the weakness of this era of competition which is probably the weakest it's been since the 60's.

Lebron has played 20 finals games during his peak years.

This is only the second game you legitimately can call great.

Compare this to the last player who had this luxury:

Also, what does FMVP have to do with anything? Lakers didn't play the Spurs in the Finals ever. Everyone knows that Kobe was the best player vs the Spurs in 2001, 2002, and 2004, and had some of the best performances/moments in his career against them.

FMVP is everything.

The fact that Shaq has 3 FMVP, while Kobe only has 2, shows how much of a beta Kobe is. Dude was a 2nd-string to Shaq. The Wade to Lebron, The Durant to Westbrook. 2nd. String.

This geriatric spurs team completely dismantled the MVP thunder team with top 5 Westbrook. Give them credit. They are pretty good. I just believe Miami is literally the only team in the league that can beat em in 7.

Game 1 Dallas held the lead nearly the entirety of the game and then the Spurs played insane execution the last 5 minutes and pulled out the win.

Game 2 was Dallas blowout.

Game 3 was close and Carter hit that lucky game winner.

Game 4 Dallas had the momentum and lead and then Blair gets ejected and Spurs won.

Game 5 was close

Game 6 was close and Dallas had better execution down the stretch

Game 7-refs decided in the first three minutes that every possession for the Spurs would be a foul on Dallas.

And this was a team in which 33 year old Dalembert, 35 year old Marion, 37 year old Carter, and 31 year old Calderon were prominent players for a playoffs team.

This is easily the worst iteration of any Spurs Finals squad.

They're in limbo right now. With the way both Duncan and Lebron are playing, it seems like either one will win FMVP. Duncan becomes almost unquestionably greater with a win (5 rings, 4 FMVP, 2 MVP vs 5 rings, 2 FMVP, 1 MVP). LeBron becomes very arguably greater before he reaches 30 years old. I'm a Laker and Kobe fan and I'm certainly (and it seems like most Laker fans for that matter are certainly not in limbo) as we aren't insecure or care about about fans arbitrary player rankings considering we are the most prestigious franchisee in NBA history. As far as your point though, Finals MVP is a pretty useless award. It's an award based on just 4-7 games and it didn't even exist until 1969, had it, Bill Russell would have more than anyone. Plenty of of non-elite players like Paul Pierce, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, James Worthy, Joe Dumars and Cedric Maxwell all have won Finals MVPs. Even John freaking Starks came literally within one shot of winning MVP of the Finals. Kareem was flat out robbed of the 1980 Finals MVP in favor of a popular, charismatic teammate because CBS persuaded and coerced enough writers to change their votes and we're going to act like this award is legit?

A rudimentary comparison of accolades isn't how I rank players, but it is the easiest (laziest) and most widely used criteria. My post is how they would be viewed in the eyes of fans looking at these things.

In terms of FMVP, I'd say that it generally gives an account of who the best player in the playoffs was. As you say, there are exceptions, but how does this help Kobe's case? Tony Parker was the FMVP in 2007 but Duncan was the leader and best player throughout the playoffs. Duncan outperforms Parker in this series, wins FMVP and it can be argued that he has led his team to five championship runs as the best player (he was also the best player against OKC). Kobe only led his to two (played a big part in four). That just hammers more nails into the coffin.

Btw I would say there's a difference between being a Kobe stan and a Kobe fan. Kobe stans are genuinely panicking at this moment.

Shot 100% on 3s, dished a few assists and picked some steals too. Against a fcuking incredible Spurs team.

Are there any other rational non homer unbiased fans out there that appreciate this? :confusedshrug:

I certainly appreciate it, but what does it really say... Lebron had a decent game, nothing legendary, nothing we'll remember in 10 years, just decent. It's just funny seeing the Stans act as if he's now the Goat cause of this one game. Hope he can keep it up tho

Shaq/Lakers = edit.

Shaq with 3 FMVP, and Kobe got swept in first round with Dwight, Gasol and Nash.

But Kobe won 2 titles without the hep of Nash and Dwight, so your point moot

you can say all you want about lebron and his past and what not

but his just on another level at the moment

put him on single team in the NBA and they instantly have a shot at every single game because of him

not impressed, he has scored 1 point in the last 5 mins of both games combined.
