2015 free agency is where he's going to be judged, really. Not much you can do with no cap room or draft picks.

So far all he's done is hire a coach, and even that you can't judge. I like that he has the future in mind though.

wtf would you have expected him to do.

Or not? he hasn't shown me anything good yet, but he does have 20k posts :confusedshrug:

No, hear me out. What has he done so far? Hired Fisher, checked out a washed up Odom, and undersold Kerr. Not a good start.

Yes but the reality is, if Fisher turns out be good then Phil is a genius.

It's too too early to judge anything. He's making moves. Season isn't over yet to further advance in his activity.

Is it too early to judge PJ as a GM? Let's see; he's been here around 10 weeks.

The answer might be "yes". :facepalm

I give him 4 years to make a noticeable difference.

You have to remember, the Knicks are a bit of a mess right now. No picks or good contracts to speak of.

Depends. Is it too early to judge Wiggins as an NBA shooting guard? Is it too early to judge Derek Fisher as an NBA coach? Is it too early to judge the 2018 NBA draft?

Seriously, what kind of question is this?

100 years would be too early to judge how a person does in a job they don't own.

This is more of a long term build. He needs at least 3 years to be judged.

Knicks aren't committed to anyone other than Melo and Calderon... possibly JR if he doesn't opt out. Other than that, clean canvas. Their whole team could be different next season if he doesn't like what he sees now.

Why are they committed to Calderon ? He's basically a stop gap PG at this point. 33 years old, he is who he is as a journey man. Everyone outside of Melo should be replaced really.

Jackson is garbage. His Lakers last got swept by Dallas in the playoffs and NY thinks he's gonna work a miracle. Waiting 2-3 from now for what? For until melo watch on crutches?

I am only talking about in terms of contracts still on the books. But other than Rondo, there aren't any other options. And Rondo can't shoot, so he isn't a good fit for the triangle.

I think that Phil struck out on Kerr and overpaid a buddy of his.

Fisher may turn out to be awesome, who knows. Still to early to have a solid judgment on Phil's tenure though.

He got two second round picks, Calderon, and expirings in exchange for Felton and a disgruntled Chandler. I'd say in a vacuum, that's not an awful trade, considering Felton has a player option for 2015-2016. He got two young wings in Cleanthony Early & Greek Freak 2 because of this trade.

Granted, Calderon's deal runs for two more years after this season, but he also has probably the highest BBIQ on the Knicks roster right now. Great floor spacer and heady on offense. Terrible defender, but maybe they can hide him a bit potentially. Worst-case scenario you stretch his contract, but he's not a total scrub.
