View Full Version : Is Rudy Gay as deadly a cancer as Allen Iverson?

I still wont say hes a worse one as to surpass Allen Iverson's cancerous level it takes really a lot. However, I cant help but notice that Rudy Gay made all his teams worse, from the Grizzlies to the Raptors and the Kings. Moreover, he is supposed to be in his prime right now. So do you think Rudy Gay right now is about as much a cancer as Allen Iverson, or at least very close?

I don't like Iverson, but at least he led the Sixers to the Finals and won one game against the Lakers.

This comparison is pathetic

Much better question.

The answer unfortunately has to be yes, never thought I'd have D-Will rated as low as a complete loser like Gay a couple years ago but that fatass just can't get it together.

Rudy Gay isn't a locker room leader.

But you can sure count on him while he's on the court.

That's a step too far but he's genuinely improving. Might even make the all star team next season!

I don't think he cares about the all star team.

probably much more interested in making it into the playoffs.

and don't know how to act/express to players who doesn't have that mentality or know what playoff basketball was like.

no. but they probably aren't diciplined, and quite frankly just wants to have fun and put up stats on the basketball court.

they need an authoritative figure. which is why Mark Jackson could have been a good fit for them, especially if they got Love.

Byron Scott would have been fine if he thought of Isiah Thomas could be a potential all star floor general that keeps his teammates in check.

and no, I haven't watched the kings games.

It's kinda off a sad situation with Rudy. A guy of his talent should be a one of the best players in the game, instead he lets the media dictate what he should be. I remember his draft express profile saying stating on how one of his main weaknesses was being "too passive" and then he basically became the opposite of that.

His Toronto situation was an offensive system that forced the team to run a lot of ISO plays for Rudy. With a lack of a consistent interior scorer, Rudy was pretty ineffective here. He was never THAT type of guy. He's a second or third option player on a good/great team.

DeMar DeRozan is now supposed to carry the burden of the #1 scorer, but he's also not comfortable (yet) with this role. But what he can do better than Rudy is at least be elite at a certain skill and that's get to the free throw line at a high rate. DeMar has already been working out hard on weaknesses (getting stronger, posting up more, ball-handling), so he should be much more able to handle this burden next season than Rudy was. This will also be the first time he gets to handle being the first option throughout the course of an entire season.

When did AI become a cancer?

His post-Denver years it was more evident. He seemed to have quit on the Pistons when he didn't want to come off the bench and he basically wanted out of Memphis 3 games in because he didn't like this role on the team and cussed out coach Lionel Hollins.

wow. you're comparing an all time great to a run-of-the-mill potential all-star candidate... awful thread.
