Super excited but apprehensive. I don't want it to tarnish the original.

Aside from the casting, I didn't like what I saw ...at all

In all honesty, it looks like just as bad an idea as this was:

As I said in the other thread, saw it and loved it. Certainly not a disappointment like Anchorman 2 was.

I don't like the Harry being a father as the primary plot. They should have made it about them having a mid-life crisis after working in their ant farm and deciding to hit the road and all the shit that happens along the way.

Yeah and Lloyd faked being traumatized for 20 years and let himself be institutionalized that entire time... as a joke...

Trailer didn't look good at all IMO, blatantly recycled gags, but I'm a card-carrying Carrey stan, so.. prob will see it anyway.

What kind of hook up you got?

I found out about it from guys working for that company handing out passcodes for the showing when I went to see another movie. They did the same thing for 22 Jump Street in April, but I had a job interview and my dissertation defense that week and had to pass.

I actually liked it more than the plot of the original, which was them on a road trip because of Lloyd's crush.

I get the same sentiment. Trailers use up their good jokes and I'm sure the more they advertise, the more we'll see.
They seem to have rehashed alot of jokes. the beginning scene at the hospital was pretty obvious. They use the breath spray gag, the practical joke pointing routine, and a couple of other repeats.
All in all it is a must see, it is Dumb and Dumber

So the consensus is everyone likes the original? I thought the original was pretty....well..dumb...but not in a good way. It just wasn't very funny. I laughed maybe 5/6 times for the original...and that was it.

But who knows...maybe this sequel will be better, I thought this trailer was pretty good.

How old were you at the time?
This is not a slight question, but I think Jim Carrey's humor can wear down on some people. This was at the pinnacle of his comedy career where his brand of humor was new to people. I laughed my ass when I first saw this movie.

I actually like Jim Carrey generally. I liked the first Ace Ventura alot...I thought The Mask was pretty good. And some of his other stuff, like Liar Liar, is pretty good considering what it is. I also love Carrey in his dramatic roles of Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine.

But first DandD just didn't do it for me...thought the jokes fell flat....and I thought at the time, the other "dumb" comedy duos like Beavis and Butthead, and Wayne's World were much better....

Im actually hoping this is one of those movies that has sooooo many more jokes/laughs (and actually good ones) than the trailer showed. but if the whole movie is on the level of the trailer, what a waste of a twenty year idea....

every gag in that trailer is a throwback to a joke in the original movie. I hope there is a balance and it's not just a nostalgia fest.

I still laugh my ass off watching D&D, by far Jim Carrey's best movie. Trailer makes this one look kinda bad though.

agreed, when he first appeared i enjoyed his humor but i can't stand him now. this trailer does not change a thing for me.

The acting also looked extra hammy in that trailer tbh. In the first one they obviously did dumb things but the way they acted out the characters wasn't over the top. In this one it kinda seems to be.

It seems to be more like a weak re-creation of the first one than simply a continuation. They shouldn't have waited so damn long. Took them out of their rhythm!

Maybe it's because they look old or maybe it's because of nostalgia clouding your judgement. Whatever it is, this looks like hot garbage. :coleman:
yeah that's another thing, they both look old as shit

As bad as the trailer looks, neither the first one or this are the kind of movies that would lend themselves well to just a couple snippets. I'm holding out hope it will be better than this, but now I'm not so sure.

My favorite parts were not in the trailer. Though, they do hint at one of my favorite parts without completely ruining it. I love Rob Riggle in it. Overall, this movie had better sight gags than the original, but isn't as quotable. Any fan of the original should love this unless they are just being stubborn and don't allow themselves to enjoy it because they are nit picking (something most of us wouldn't have done at a younger age with the original when it came out 20 years ago).

There's a chance this movie might suck.
