View Full Version : Build a team around LeBron with just one other superstar that would really help him.

Not like Wade. But someone who would be great with him like Magic was with Kareem, Jordan with Pippen, Kobe and Shaq.

I'm thinking Dwight Howard and a team like this:

C: Dwight Howard
PF: Boris Diaw
SF: LeBron James
SG: Jamal Crawford
PG: Kirk Hinrich

this. definitely not enough help on that team to overcome cramps and 7 point games

Off the top of my head I'd say someone like Dirk or (better yet, if we're picking from anyone) Bird. Someone that's automatic from mid-range to clear the lane for Bron, can direct offense from the post, and take the big shot when needed.

Only 1? Mo Williams was an all star and complimented bran perfectly :lol

Unfortunately bran needs 2 prime all stars and a stacked supporting cast to win. I'm sure he's trying to recruit melo now also.

Am I the only one who thinks Melo would be a great fit with Lebron? Melo's a terrific off-ball player and spot up player. He'd certainly be a better fit than Wade the past few seasons.

Prime Dirk would be sick with Lebron as well.

No

Melo is more than capable of playin team ball. He did it on the US squad and he did it on the 2008 Nuggets when they gave LA a run for their money in the Western finals. Whom ever says the guy is a ball hog is literally an idiot. JR Smith is equivalent to a poor man's Stevenson, Amare pretty much a shadow of Blake Griffin and Tyson Chandler defends... that's it. LeBron and Melo would dominate every aspect of the game, it's plain and simple. Check the stats on the US squad if people on here don't believe they can play together.

Noah/Ibaka would be a good front court for LeBron. Pick and roll game would be good w/ Noah, and Ibaka has a mid range game and can protect the paint w/ Noah.
Put a couple spot up shooters along with that and that's game

C- spencer Hawes
PF- Taj Ginson
SF- Bran
Sg- Klay Thompson
Pg- Steph Curry

6th- Ray Ray

Bran has fexibility on offense, can post up because Hawes can go permitter while curry handles or he can just handle and hit one of his corner shooters. ON D he wont end up having to guard any burly forwards due to the frontline.

Id put Kevin Love with Bron. De Andre as my center, Dragic at PG and a shooter defender at guard. Tony Allen.

Deandre Jordan
Kevin Love
Bron
Tony Allen
Goran Dragic

I think I win this thread. There is no possible way anyone can contend without breaking the general rule of the thread. It's got offense, defense, range, a reliable secondary scorer, interior scoring, and great chemistry

Based off my own arbitrary criteria of top 15 being "superstar" (any lower number would be boring)

c- Deandre
pf- Iblocka
sf- Bran
sg- JJ Reddick
pg- Stephen Curry

Both guards are elite catch and shooters with range. Reddick is an ok passer for a 2 and Curry is pretty much elite in everything you want from a pg on the offensive end. Pretty much the best interior D I can think of with Noah and Howard off the table, and I think Ibaka's spot up offensive style fits Bran perfectly. You basically have 3 of the best help defenders in the league in your frontcourt to cover for Curry getting blown by.

Yikes. That team would get ****ing torched on defense.

Not a good choice--he's hardly what you'd call an ideal spot up three-point shooter.

what you guys dont understand with howard: he wanna be the man in his team, despite the fact, a team, where he is the man cant win a ring. and howard wouldnt be the man in a team with bron.

:facepalm
Substitute all star buddy, he was decent b/c of lebron and dissapeared in both playoffs.
His numbers the year after Lebron: 13,7,3, 38.5% Fg 3 turnovers...doesnt even seem like he should start on a contender or he is the weakest link; and the sad part was that he was the 2nd best piece.

Kobe.
Kobe would be the primary scorer and defender and clutch time player, Lebron would be the best 2nd option ever.

Dwight is not a good piece imo, he clogs up the lane and can't shoot free throws.

Prime Duncan or Garnett would be my choice

Duncan and Garnett are also much better at passing. They're also able to play in the high post. Something which Dwight is not.

Not to be a stan but Wilt might be a good fit. They're both athletic freaks that would just overwhelm opposing teams by themselves and if you got at least one other guy who can score consistently and move off ball well for them to pass too once they're doubled you're ****ed.

C-Wilt
PF-Rodman
SF-LeBron
SG-Ray Allen
PG-Kirk
6th-kirilenko

Unless you consider Rodman and Allen superstars, I'd say stars but not anyone you'd build a team around

With most of these players being able to play multiple positions you could do a lot of tweaking to the lineups

Derka

I'd go with Dwight Howard.

The way I see it: Lebron can run the point, shoot the J, attack the rim and defend the G/F positions reasonably well. Give him a solid, defensively-minded Center who can finish in the post and make anyone in the League weary of going near the basket...and it'd be the perfect pairing. Dwight has even shown ability to pass out of the post when double-teamed, usually finding the open man on the perimeter (a large part of why Orlando was such a devastating 3-point shooting squad during their playoff seasons).

You could fill the 1, 2 and 4 positions with mid-level contract guys and have a nasty starting lineup.

If the goal is to create a very good team, then one superstar would be enough, and it could be anyone. But if you're trying to win a chip, it's a scientific fact that he needs at least two other superstars and a great ensemble of role players, preferably all great shooters who can also defend. That way he'll get 50-80% out of everyone (law of diminishing returns), while making sure that his stats are the best among them.

sic
06-11-2014, 11:14 AM
Chris Bosh can play that role already. The dumb coach needs to enforce the pecking order in the heat team. The problem is today scrubs like chalmers have a green light to drive, shoot at will

Prime amare would have been a good match, he had a reliable mid range, ran the court well, passed good for a big man, and played pick and roll great. He was just a liability on defense.

Prime KG was better at all those plus he was insane defender and reckless competitor that's why he ought to be a great fit.
