???

I feel this Spurs team is insanely good... or they just expose Miami's flawed defensive scheme and by doing so, look this great. hmmmmmm

the 99 squad would be the closest. This year's TEAM probably the best Spurs team ever.

Their probably better than the 03 Spurs. Not better than the Spurs from 04/05-06/07 and arguably not better than the 99 Spurs.

So...

05
07
99
13
03

I would take the 05/06 and 03/04 teams over this 11/12-13/14 Spurs too.

99 was a beast squad. Despite what many will say, Robinson was still a superstar after the broken foot for at least a couple years (RAPM numbers paint him as a dominant defender even later, which matches up with the eye test). Just ceded the featured scorer role to Duncan.

04 is underrated too, even without a title. 08 and last year were good teams too. 03 wasn't a great squad, even though it had tons of talent guys weren't in their primes. 05 and 07 were great. I'm not sure where this team ranks yet. We'll know in a couple weeks, since they might show us more as the series progresses. Hell, 06 and 12 were good teams as well (01 wasn't bad either).

Crazy dynasty for sure.

Idk, tough to say. I'm still partial to the 2005 team (as a personal favorite). Played amazing defense and so clutch. Duncan had a game winner in the playoffs (against Seattle) on a feed from Ginobili – just so representative of how tough they were to stop. And Bowen's defense was stellar, Pop switched Bowen on to Chauncey Billups at times in the Finals and it worked. 2007 had the Big 3 in their collective prime (arguably), 2003 Duncan was just a beast (back-to-back MVP), and 1999 were a group of seasoned vets in Avery, Robinson, Elliott, lead by the young superstar in TD.

Its amazing how the rules have changed, Pop has transitioned the Spurs from a dominant defensive force to a GOAT level offensive juggernaut. Offensive is the name of the game these days. Defense might separate the top offenses (such as Miami and Spurs),but if you don't have the firepower to score you don't stand a chance.

I always thought their 2005 squad was the best, but you can make an argument this Spurs team is better.

Agreed. They've adapted really well over the years with the rule changes. Adding a title would just enhance both Pop and Duncan's legacies.

I was not that impressed with 2003 and 2005.

I think 99 and 13 are the best.

The defense of the 05 team was some of the best of the decade (it's between Spurs, Pistons, and 08 Celtics)

With Duncan at PF and Nazr / Rasho at C they blocked alot of shots (543), 2nd most in the league.

Held teams to 80 points or less a number of times that season. Lockdown D.

Can't decide between this and the 05 team, though I'm leaning towards the latter, because they had two superstars (this Spurs team doesn't have one).

It's easily better than the 03 and 99 Spurs in my opinion. I'm surprised people on here so fondly remember that team. They had the best player in the league that year, as well as a masterful defensive duo, but it wasn't very deep and it was pretty one-dimensional. 07 Spurs faced pretty lackluster competition so it's hard to rank.

Then for the non-title years, my rankings would go like this:

Tier 1 (championship or bust): 06, 13
Tier 2 (deep run team): 04, 08
Tier 3 (not surprised to see them do well, not surprised to see them go out in the second round): 98, 12
Tier 4 (mediocre teams): 00-02, 09-11

Better than your 37-45 Knicks, at least we got a draft pick we desired and made good use of it, what did you get this year? Lottery pick for Denver Nuggets?

2005 was the best team, logically duncan 2003 was the best player of all teams and could lead this team to a ring easily
