Pretty much this. If the Spurs win tomorrow I will be shocked to be honest. What's their playoff record with Joey Crawford? 23-2 or something?

I think you mean Lebron. Lebron has fouled out of playoff games in each of the last 2 years, and Joey Crawford was the ref for both games. Don't know where this myth came from that the Heat do well with him officiating. Dan Crawford would make sense, but not Joey. :lol

I'm sure one Lebron hater mentioned it once, and people took it as fact, instead of looking it up themselves.

I don't know why people would believe it, Joey likes to make the games about him. He'll one up Lebron or anyone else that talks to him.

Miami Heat post 2011 With Joey Crawford .625 winning pct 10-6
Rest? .727 Winning pct
So they have a better win pct when Joeys not reffing.

Spurs shoot 30 free throws on Miami's home court and people are already complaining about bullshit calls for Miami that haven't even happened yet.

And Heat fans are the idiots? This forum has excuses lined up before anything even happens lol. Not to mention half their stats about the referees are wrong, or made up. :oldlol:

I understand that everyone ponders about the question

"should NBA foul call be taken into consideration of something along the line of boxing rules. because some players are generally stronger than others, period. So are they suppose to absorb more contacts than others just because they are stronger? while it's certainly easier to call fouls in college basketball because the differences in size as well as skills aren't going to be that big of a difference yet - remember, they are still in college, and playing against players within a certain age group/frame - These same fouls becomes much tougher to call in the professional league."

The others be watching Joey Crawford ref the game and be like "well, I guess that's technically a foul when I forget how strong Lebron really is"

Makes sense, this isn't particularly shocking news...

Miami desperately needs to win this game, the NBA wants to extend the series, and Joey Crawford hates the Spurs as much as anybody. It seems like there's a obvious win-win-win resolution here, isn't there?

So far, the free throw disparity works to the Spurs' advantage, so it won't look too bad if they start calling more fouls on LeBron's drives to the rim/DWade's stupid fakes. They just have to be careful not to put Kawhi specifically in foul trouble, otherwise it'll be too obvious. Some offensive fouls here and there will be ideal.

The Internet tough guy attitude has never worked in the history of humanity.

I've got nothing against the Heat, just observing that the Heat winning next game is in everyone's best interest. Even ours as fans, in a way... But they probably won't need the refs to win anyway. I hope it goes down that way if they do win.

It just gives the haters an excuse if the Heat do win. Even though Lebron's record with Joey Crawford officiating is only 13-11. Also, the only two times Lebron has been fouled out during the playoffs is when Joey Crawford was officiating. If the Heat do win, they'll ignore the fact that the Heat just do not lose back to back during the playoffs, and focus on their made up reason.

but they'd just have to deal with the "Tim Donaghy" incident because the league called up the refs and had a "talk"

I guess we can make it more formal if the NBA had a "formal sitdown video tape showing of where the refs made mistakes without just targeting the refs who WILL be refing future final games"

which is the lesser evil?

wait, what?

Joey Crawford is to Tim Duncan and the Spurs what Danny Crawford was to the Mavs pre-2011. (The Mavs playoff record with him at one point was something like 1-16).

You could even say Joey Crawford is Tim Duncan's biggest career rival, even if it's more about mutual perception than anything.

When you look at the numbers, Crawford's record is definitely more subtle than Danny Crawford versus Dallas. What's questionable about it is not the average, but the pattern of particular games he's officiating in. Rigging isn't typically involved, but it's as if the league chose to assign Crawford certain pivotal games, "just in case".

Take last year's Finals, for example. The Heat lose game 1 versus the Spurs at home. Guess who's called to officiate the all-important game 2? That's right, Joey Crawford. The Heat then lose game 5 and are facing elimination in game 6. Once again, the league turns to none other than Joey Crawford. Fast forward a year later, and the Heat are facing the Spurs again, with their backs against the wall after a game 3 loss. If you'd placed a bet on the name of the referee they would assign to game 4 yesterday, you could've made a fortune.

I don't recall any outrageous calls in the 2013 games, but the mere fact that he was assigned to them, even though he once challenged Tim Duncan to a fight, is puzzling to say the least.
